Another JQi stranding passengers incident

ironic that that post linked in the OP mentioned staff not having "goo english".

It's the pax's own fault... coz they're stingy, and booked with a cough airline.

Oh? the passenger is responsible for determining which routes airlines service. Tell me what alternative is there for MEL-DPS from an airline that doesn't have (has never had) disrupted operations?

So true. That's the best laugh that I've had all day. :)

The fault of the pax was making that booking in the first place. ;)
Ham it up guys - this scenario is just hilarious.

Oh and BTW - I'm tipping Yvette would not be amused by your responses.

Who is Yvette? Oh Yvette is the 38yo widowed mother of 3 little kids who underwent a double mastectomy 3 years ago and who has finally got her life back together and has saved sufficient to give herself a weeks break - yeah it's f*cking hilarious isn't it!

I was contemplating posting this a few days ago - direct to DPS it's not like there's a wealth of great options.

I have never heard of these people who feel that were ripped off on Jetstar and I do not care about them. Sad as their situation is, they mean nothing to me. How could they?

Maybe they have learnt a lesson with this booking that will assist them in the future.

Also, the attempt at putting us on the guilt trip is plain crazy and won't help you or them to move on.

It's not like DPS is the only glamorous destination to fly. ;)

Maybe somewhere else next time?

Got the son-in-law's milestone birthday coming up next year, yes you've guessed where he intends to spend it (at least it's in a luxury resort ....). Last week August, first week of September.

So, for the bemused among us who advise against booking JQ (and I'm one who avoids them like the proverbial) and I'm not too keen on GA - are my MEL-DPS options restricted to:

OW: MH and CX - massive detours but I have my WP status
Direct: VA and GA - no status, but looking at J, so less of a hassle, but nothing rewarding and no MEL FLounge.

Looking to purchase (probably hard-earned) 2 x J returns, luckily outside of school holidays. Traditionally, isn't Christmas/New Year sale time for the airlines too?

What would the good people suggest?

Regards,

BD

I usually fly SQ BNE/SIN/DPS albeit slight backtracking, though more suitable departure, transit & arrival timing & in desired comfort. :D

...if you were travelling to LHR for example and an A380 went US somewhere in the line which meant you were delayed overnight would you say - QF - never again - NEVER ?

well when my QF BNE-SYD flight turned around (back to BNE)
I had taxi vouchers and hotel letters ready for me at BNE
OK I had to queue up for them but I was soon sleeping on a nice bed
$50 room credit for dinner/breakfast

Sounds like a good outcome.

I'd go VA and then pool the second J into the one account and you'd be close to gold (320SCs needing 400 for gold) . The daytime flight on the way there is ok although the night-time one back wouldnt be great in the 737 J seats (think Y+ with no footrest). With J fares you basically get all the lounge / luggage / priority stuff anyway (ok there's no F lounge but anyhoo.....)

GA is on my personal "no fly" list (rightly or wrongly).

YMMV.

Yep I can tell it means nothing to you by the way you keep posting about it.

Believe it or not some people WANT to go to DPS despite all these other glamorous destinations. Another demonstration of how much your not bothered.

"Apologising" by making a comment such 'We're sorry if YOU didn't LIKE the way IT WAS HANDLED' is now much in vogue, not just by JQ.

I've had the same type of 'apology' from a decision maker in another sector completely unrelated to transport.

It may be a clever use of English but it is not an apology - it is blaming US for having the temerity to raise something that we found unsatisfactory and that required rectification.

Note the subjectivity of the airline's response. Sadly this is all too common these days.

Any company that expresses an 'apology' this way should not ever benefit from our business again, ideally.

It's basically saying that's how we handle things and if you don't like it, go elsewhere

VA gave me a similar response in regards to feedback I sent on my recent XFB flight, as a result they stay on my no-fly list for domestic except to burn up points!

thing is, the airline has to be careful about admitting liability for a certain issue, and the agent themselves have to be careful about saying sorry to a passenger as that then invites criticism and negativity upon the agent which is likely a) undeserved and b) will only to serve to stress the agent more, at an already stressful time.

Oh I have moved on DH3 - I moved on the moment the girls presented at J* check-in yesterday and found out they were upgraded to business class as a gesture from J* re the inconvenience they experienced.

I moved further on when I saw the tears streaming down a certain little lady's face when she learned she was not only upgraded to business class but was also going to get her first visit to QF lounge also.

And I moved further on still when on the Tulla freeway on the drive home when I realised that the moronic insensitive and unintelligent postings of certain contributors to this thread ;) had been marginally surpassed by the imbecilic and moronic actions of the driver pictured below - travelling Tulla Fwy at 90kmh with these 2 flea taxis parked on his lap!

The blue sky backdrop is very pleasant on the eye.. :D

Did you get the numberplate? Might be worth sharing with someone in a blue uniform.....

Good suggestion for BD1959 there about taking the narrowbody punishment and pooling into VA for a quick run to VA Gold but the downside is the B737 and no widebody for some.

If trying to fly MEL-DPS direct, its a pity the good alternative offered in this post is somewhat detracted by the anti Garuda sentiment. Given that GA are offering A330s nonstop from MEL-DPS then I think Garuda may still at least be worth a look at the very least, especially if their prices were competative. Sure they are Star Alliance but once you add up all the bundles and food/baggage fees JQ Y and JQ Starcless are not that great value compared to other airlines anyway. So if it was a widebody or nothing you do have a choice of JQ or GA (or take the narrowbody punishment on a VA B737), and if the budget permits - I would take GA J class or VA J class over JQ starclass any day if the prices were similar. Unfortunately even the GA option DPS-MEL return flight is an overnight horror so reason enough to compare prices between VA J class vs JQ Starclass vs GA J class.
