Some unhappy pax over on JQ's Facebook page. eg https://www.facebook.com/JetstarAustralia/posts/649900948386960

JQ36 DPS-MEL, departing ca 23:00 was already running late due to the 3-hours delayed incoming JQ35 MEL-DPS flight. Eventually JQ36 was cancelled. Pax claim there were not informed or given any refreshments (in the still not completely functional new DPS terminal) and it was 05:00 or so before they got sent to hotels. Seems they will travel a day later.

Mmmm I'm on JQ35 today! I hope JQ has a spare A330...

they should do given all the capacity reductions going on of late for AKL and PEK - whether it's in the right port is another question! maybe you'll get lucky and they'll put you on garuda :)

The facebook followup by Jetstar "we're sorry to hear you didn't like the way it was handled"

You'd think Jetstar wouldn't like the way it was handled either.

Idiot company speak from Jetstar.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What can you say?

The most important thing for an airline are passengers and JQ thinks it is OK to treat them like sh....

Well JQ35 left MEL on time and arrived at DPS early. So they did have a spare A330. :)

The new terminal at DPS is nice but it's way from finished!

But Cruiserette and 2 of her buddies due to fly out of MEL on JQ35 today at 18:45 but she just received email saying flight cancelled.

Repeated heated calls to JQ call centre finally sees them on JQ35 tomorrow - JQ - never again - NEVER

I guess they acknowledged the issue.

...if you were travelling to LHR for example and an A380 went US somewhere in the line which meant you were delayed overnight would you say - QF - never again - NEVER ?

That said hopefully Cruiserette & Co are on their way soon.

EBJ was always the bane of my existence when it was with QFd...

MF I fully understand equipment failures from time to time cause problems - but it was the JQ response when Cruiserette contacted them that nailed it.

First Rep basically could not have given a cough re their predicament - claimed there was no possible flt they could get on for 48hrs - Cruiserette called them back and 2nd rep amazingly found seats on same flt morrow night - not perfect but disaster averted - but attitude / response from JQ just disgraceful.

Now whilst Cruiserette could prolly buy JQ if she wanted to - she certainly could buy QF at their current price - one of her cobbers has had to scrimp and save all year to afford this vacation - many people who fly JQ have no choice other than to search cheapest possible fares - it really can be devastating to the 'have nots' if their much awaited / anticipated annual holiday thrown into disarray like this.

When these JQ flts booked couple months back JQ prices significantly lower than VA - VA flts now cheaper than JQ - if was case when booked VA would certainly have been selected.

Having said all that still a bit rich to say that a flt cancellation by JQ was fault of the pax!

Fair enough. I personally wouldn't be too pleased with that response, but then again overseas call centres are the bane of my (and others I'm sure) existence. Calling IT is a thankless task!!

Honestly, it's one of the main reasons I prefer QF. Call any time, get someone I can (a) hear and (b) understand!

"Apologising" by making a comment such 'We're sorry if YOU didn't LIKE the way IT WAS HANDLED' is now much in vogue, not just by JQ.

I've had the same type of 'apology' from a decision maker in another sector completely unrelated to transport.

It may be a clever use of English but it is not an apology - it is blaming US for having the temerity to raise something that we found unsatisfactory and that required rectification.

Note the subjectivity of the airline's response. Sadly this is all too common these days.

Any company that expresses an 'apology' this way should not ever benefit from our business again, ideally.

It's the pax's own fault... coz they're stingy, and booked with a cough airline.

So true. That's the best laugh that I've had all day. :)

The fault of the pax was making that booking in the first place. ;)

Sooner QF sells JQ (keeping the 787s for themselves preferably) the better :D
Seriously though, sometimes I think they deliberately give these sort of rubbish responses to make QF service look better.

Flew JQ35 and 36 back in September on a trip to Bali. Terrible flights, should have foregone the (very short) visit to the Flounge and flown Virgin. Having said that, I'd probably book them again from MEL-SYD or MEL-ADL. Just not over any distance.

TBH the VA experience to Bali isn't better. All that time in a 737 in Y with two toilets. J isn't much better, it's just domestic (no footrests etc).

Unfortunately for a flight of that length, a widebody beats a narrow body hands down everytime.
