Apply with a link and have them cancel the first application reference.

Hi there. Posted this in my introduction thred but maybe this will be a better bet. I have applied for the AMEX Velocity card, but I don't actually have a Velocity account as yet. Will that be sorted by Amex as part of my application process? Or will I need to do it myself?
Cheers in advance.

Think you'll need to open your own Velocity a/c,and have Amex add the membership no. to your card

Ahhhh. I did apply through a link so maybe that answers my question.
Thanks.

a referral link?
Should have said either 100k or 110k as the bonus depending which 'link' you used....

There was a question in the application asking if you have a velocity account or not. If you said no, there was a pop up/down comment saying Amex will instruct Velocity to make an account once approved.

Your velocity number get printed on the card so I would say Amex will need to have a number before they can issue you with a card

Yes that rings a bill actually. I assume if/when I'm approved for the card that information will follow with it.
Thanks.

Yeah, I assume velocity will instantly issue a number to amex once they give them the all clear. No point applying for velocity now and telling amex as that might delay things further.

They only print the number on the card if you sign up to velocity before the credit card and provide the number before the application which is what i suggest every new applicant does.

I was wondering how to redeem the 2 free lounge passes. Do they post out 2 passes like Qantas does, or do you present ID/Velocity card at the lounge? I can see the passes when I log in to my Velocity account, I am just unsure how to use them. Thanks

They are linked to your VA account. Scan your card for admission. You cannot transfer them to someone else.

Show your card to identify yourself, away you go.

Thanks so much. I emailed Virgin n days later they said to email velocity, so I thought someone here could surely help.

Hi all.
Can anyone give me a simple run through of how to create a referral link? Got a couple friends/colleagues who may be keen to take up this offer.
Although I am not sure if I have rights to create my own link, being a new member with a low post count at this stage.
If that's the case so be it. I will send them on to someone else who already has a link up.
Thanks,
G

Not entirely true, there have been reports of people phoning the lounge and asking for a pass to be used for a friend who is at the desk in the lounge, succesfully...

I can confirm I have been successful with this a few times call the lounge. I have also given someone my card and the wording "My friend gave me this card and I know that I can't use it however he said you should check that that he was "lounge passes" on his account that I should be able to use"

not sure if this has been covered in this thread, I've just noticed that amex removed the option of the free flight from perth to Sydney return in Aug 2015. I received this card in July knowing that Sydney was a valid flight option, even called amex and confirmed.
Can they do this ??? I signed up with the t&c's saying I could redeem my flight from perth to sydney

My partner signed up without a Velocity account. Amex said they would sign him up for Velocity. They have "transferred" his points, but there has been no sign of a Velocity membership pack, nor do we know what his membership number is. Will be following up Amex and Velocity soon to see what is going on.
