Customer Service number are now saying the offer is targeted. The story is changing...

I got my email.logged in and the small shop didn't show up.An hour later though looked again and it was saved to my account.
Now to get mrsdrron's card activated.

Got the offer and activated it on both my cards and my supp card.

Shop small received on my Platinum Charge and Reserve cards.

I activated on my Explorer, Edge and two Westpac Amex's and all Supps last night.

Initially was not there on the majority of them, but with the ones where it was not I found that by refreshing the screen multiple times that it then generated the link to click SAVE on.

Looking at the map today there are a lot less businesses in it than in previous years.

Interesting as I did observe there were quite a lot new additions to shop small establishments around Melbourne CBD. Not sure if they have made any changes in other cities.

The offer showed up on both my Primary Explorer and Platinum Edge cards, however for the supplementaries it's been random; some have got the offer and others not. It's a big waiting game to see if all eventually do get it.

Already got an email saying I will get back a $10 credit for a purchase today. The merchant wasn't even on the shop small map!

Interestingly, registering a Primary card seemed to register a Supplementary card as well.

I was a bit confused as I did the former and went to register the supplimentary card to find it already registered.

Doesn’t work for me. Managed to register 10 out of 12 cards. The two that missed out are supps while other less used supps did get the offer, targeting seems random.

looked like its targeted. none of my supps has any offers no matter how much I refresh the screen.

Shop Small offer seems targeted this year - only available so far on 6 of my 13 cards.

Just reposting this from this morning. Unfortunately I now firmly believe the offer is targeted this year. I have the offer on 4 main cards and 2 supps. I have 7 other supps that seem to have missed out. The 2 supps with the offer are the last 2 supps I obtained and are Shop Small virgins.

I got the offer on both my Qantas Ultimate and David Jones plus the 3 supps I have for them.

2/3 cards.... can't be bothered checking the sups

Amex have really stuffed it up this year. It seems it is targeted.... but none of their advertising mentions this. Even logging into my account has big “shop small is back!l ads, but Amex claim that it’s only available if “it appears in your offers tab”.

Really shocked at just how bad Amex has gotten. It’s like they’ve just given up on Australia.

All 3 cards registered and have already received a couple of $10 credits.

They started going down hill about 3 yrs ago. Many may not remember that small shop was 10 times per card and there were other very generous cash back offers. AMEX has become just another card to churn. Get what ever you can out of it and then move on.

It really is very sad and disappointing what it's come to these days.
They were the go-to card for people who know how to manage their finances well, and for those who knew they could get something out of everyday purchases, in the form of reward points that could be used for premium travel.
The statement credits are a nice bonus too, and as of late they have primarily been credits to stores that most people have no interest in purchasing from anyway.
This targeted Shop Small campaign has now left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths.
I wonder what caused AmEx to slip so hard, so fast? Is it too many cardholders? Bad economic climate? I can't really tell.
