Was planning to refer a friend but now it only allows you to refer via Facebook and no longer accepts email...W T H? Is there possibility to still refer the old fashioned way?

Just checked vietzta and the old fashioned way still appears to work. Let me know if I can help.

Gday Prozac. I checked again via the amex site titled "Recommend American Express to your friends via Facebook and reap the rewards" - I cant post the actual link because I dont have enough AFF posts =)

Would you be able to give me the webpage you used? Cheers

Login to site. In menu across top of page select Rewards and then Refer a Friend from drop-down options.

Happy to help. I can understand that panic would set in when the opportunity to earn points appears to be snatched-away by a not so easy to navigate site. ;)

Sooo true. I have a laggy work computer and had trouble finding it on the site so I went back to google and did a simple "refer friend amex australia" search to get to the site I'd listed above.

Im no heavy hitter, nor may I ever be... so every point is worth fighting for :rolleyes:

Did anyone else notice that on the referral page for the Edge card, it mentions that the annual fee is $199 (usually $149). I wonder if it's just a typo.

Also, I only have the Facebook option for referral too, although I wonder if I can't just copy the link from my timeline...

From Amex site;
"Annual Card fee of only $149 p.a. and up to 4 supplementary Cards at no additional cost"

This is what I get. $195 pa...
Also, only 10k bonus points...

Just had a response from Amex;
"I checked our records and see that the Annual Fee for the Platinum Edge Credit Card is indeed $149.00 per annum.
We appreciate that you have brought to our notice the annual fee that is reflecting on the referral page. I have forwarded it to our online team for review. The feedback we receive from our cardmembers plays an important role in enhancing our customer's experience

Looks like there was a typo on the referal page ($195) and it will be amended.

BTW, I can still refer with new member getting 15k sign-up points.

Bad news on the Plat Edge Card with another email I just received indicating Amex have indeed upped the annual fee. Email in part follows;
"We just received an update that the Annual Fee for our Platinum Edge Credit Card has been increased to $195.00. We increase the annual fee by $50.00 due to the high costs of the benefits associate with our Platinum Edge Credit Card, including the complimentary domestic return flight every year. Despite the $50.00 fee increase, the Platinum Edge’s complimentary flight and accelerated points earn in everyday spend provide competitive differentiation and value to support the $50.00 fee increase."

Even with the $50 increase the card is still good value , my spend is shopping and petrol so I make good use of it.

I need to do the maths to see if it's worth keeping for $195. I am going to cancel my plat charge mid year unless things change. I now have the Westpac altitude black mastercard/amex. So need to work out if I do enough petrol/groceries to keep the edge @ $195. I spend approx. $100 a week on petrol, $100 a week on groceries. Sometimes more on the groceries but not much more....

Now I do not now what is going on. Just rechecked the referal page to see that contrary to the eail I received the fee on the referal page has been amended to $149pa in response to my query. https://www.americanexpress.com/aus...d.shtml?mgmerCard=platinumEdge&CPID=999996001

The annual fee is essentially paid for by the free flight. At $0pa, then, pretty good VFM card!

Only reason I'm questioning the value is that I may not use the free flight every year....
