AMEX Network - Coles Express Fuel Voucher (Exp 30 Sept 2010)

The simple question of why allow more than 5,000 people to register has not ben answered.
Ok here are two theories:

1/ Well one simple answer would be that they may get 10,000, or 100,000 registering but only have to pay out on 5000.

The way they have done it anyone above 5000 is still going to go to Shell to try their luck.

If they stopped Regos at 5000 they would miss out on all the extras.

This promo is also on other forums like ozbargain etc.....

2/ They will pay out on 5000 valid entries. T&C allow them to exclude:
* anyone that was not invite = most of us

* anyone that enters multiple cards

But as they know they will get lots of invalid entries that they can exclude later they allow more to register.

Not saying that 1/ or 2 are correct, but they are certainly plausible.

I registered so thanks for the recommendation. I also purchased $50 plus worth of petrol over the weekend so will watch the post to see if a voucher turns up.

First 5,000. My young daughter came up with the idea that perhaps everyone is able to register, but only the first 5,000 to actually buy $50 in fuel get the $30 fuel card.

I just saw this post so clicked the link - it accepted my registration. Wait & see what happens.

Interesting, offer still open and can successfully register.

I assume how it works is that Coles may get say 100,000 people buying say $50 of fuel at their petrol stations - additional 5 million turnover

They only have to give away 5,000 x $30 - $150,000 cost

This is how they can afford the promotion and offset the cost. The sneaky bit is Amex should say you are > the 5,000 person to register but then you would not buy the fuel and Coles will loose out...

The T & C does say "Participation is limited to the first 5000 Cardmembers who register" so you can register but will not participate in the promotion if you are > 5000 person.

I hope I am wrong as the first 5,000 people would have needed to respond within the first few days of the promotion starting.

I was going to ask the same question.

I have not received anything and do not really expect to receive a fuel voucher.

I was going to ask the same question.

Given it was limited to 5,000 people and it potentially allowed many more than that to register it will be interesting.

Did more than 5000 people register? We won't know until after 8 weeks and a call to Amex customer service and see if they give that as the reason for not receiving a voucher...

Regardless of the 5000 enrollment limit, you can't have a small section of T&C's that exclude you once that limit is reached. As far as I am concerned I was enrolled as the confirmation page stated such.

Again, not worried yet, until the 6-8weeks (I think it was that long) has passed as that was the timeframe given for the voucher.

I received the $30 Coles Express Voucher today.

Good to hear that they vouchers are coming through. Your luck might be improving John :) I hope I have been one of the 5000 to receive one, like you I'm not really expecting one, so it will be a nice surprise if one arrives.

The card/voucher arrived registered post from Ogilvy Action this morning.

Fuel purchased already from nearby Coles Express although it was ~10c/litre more than nearby service stations.

Got my voucher as well from Ogilvy Action as well. I used it all straight away filling up my petrol tank :)

I got one only... I suspect you only get 1 per physical address.
My partner did not receive one.

Received two gift cards today, one in my name, one in Mrs Andyj name. Both to the same address, one card direct with AMEX, one a bank branded AMEX.

My voucher came via registered post today. I have a platinum credit card but strongly doubt I was in the first 5000.
