So we will definitely get the 20k points even though it doesnt mention the points at signup?

They did confirm that over the phone but based on previous experiences nothing is definitive with AMEX.

Just to be clear then, with me as the primary account holder for both cards:

  • I could take insurance for me on the Charge card;
  • take out insurance for the wife on the Edge; and
  • score bonus points for both?

If both cards are not linked that should work.

So if you have Edge and a Gold card, take out Edge on yourself and Gold on your gf/wife/husband?

Applied, $6.60 a month for $50k cover - let's see how this goes.

I'm having trouble registering my AmEx to use the portal - what's the customer service number everyone has been using? The portal won't let you do anything except LiveChat and you have to be registered to use it

All you need to do is follow the link in message #49. You do not need to register your AMEX.

Thanks - despite being an AFF member I ended up here from the Ozbargain forum and had already gone down a wormhole reading that thread so scanned this one quickly. It's been a long day. Much appreciated!

$4.05 per month for Mrs, and $5.17 per month for me. pretty cheap 40k points.

Rejected!

"Thank you for your recent application for Insurance.

After carefully considering your application, we are unfortunately unable to offer you insurance cover. This is due to medicalhistory..."

Did you put real medical history in??
There's no point, just say no meds, fit and healthy. Unless you actually want it for the insurance and not the points?

I did. I have diabetes. Clearly that's a red flag for them.

If you just want the points seems you have to lie.

Obviously I can't reapply again with different info.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Definitely a red flag. If it's just for the points all you want to do is put in as much "I'm no risk" info as possible. You need to use your name and DOB but that's about it.

Your insurance is void, but it's not there for the claiming!
