Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

The person I spoke to said that Gold has better insurance than Green. Did not mention the hotel collection. The earn rate of gold/green is 1.5 points per dollar not the Plat 2.25 points per dollar. He said they would simply carry over my plat points, so I assume they're still ascent premium although I did not expressly confirm that.

Might try again closer to my renewal.

Gold/green isn't ascent premium. You lose the ability to transfer points to QF. That's the spiel I got a few months ago.

Benefits of gold over green? I did some research and from what I found, gold gets hotel collection but NOT fhr, and it has higher insurance limits. Couldn’t find any benefits other than those for the gold over the green.

Is the points earn on gold / green the same as the plat btw? And are they ascent premium points?
Ive got a platinum personal and FHR is okay but you can get access to a Virtuoso Agent for free which offer the same and often more perks than FHR which is what I have been using lately, send me a DM if you want a link

They rework / “enhance” the card every so often from what I’ve read here - maybe they will replace it with something similar in value. It is coming up to that time.
Highly unlikely for Amex Plat and products in this category (Centurion). Benefits have been slowly 'evaporating' since at least 2007/8. There has been no mass revolt or walkout as far as I could see. It looks like this heavily reduced offering is perfectly normal - why change business model if everything is going well for Amex?

Yeah sadly so - but if another $400 comes out then i think many will vote with their feet. I’m lucky enough to pay only 750 AF but even without the dining credit I’d probably be questioning that and use my US cards instead…..
