Any points to Join that card...? From a brief look no bonus FF points :-|

But still an option I guess...

citibank platinum has the bonus at the moment as per the other thread, 50k points.

pretty easy approval to, they gave me one!

i had to convert one of my other amex cards over since they told me im only allowed a maxium of 2 amex cc now. does anyone know what is the cheapest thing i can buy at a qantas travel shop apart from the $50 travel voucher to get the 2500 bonus points as i rarely fly qantas?

Why not buy a fully flex fare from Syd-Cbr a few months down the track, wait for the points to post then get a refund?

ref applications that included a supplimentary card. has anyone gotten their $50 voucher yet in the mail? how long did you have to wait?

Huh.... Was sent an application for this card, never considered Amex before, thought I would apply and compliment my Woolworths Qantas Everyday Rewards Credit Card which I was approved two months ago with a credit limit of $20k. Was really only going to use this "new" Amex card for "business" expenses to keep everything nice and tidy.

My application for the Amex card was rejected, no specific reason given (some cough about criteria being confidential so cant be more specific)

So I now have retired some cards, and reduced my combined credit limits by $25k since I was rejected for this card. Now I still have some interest in this card but am not sure how long I should wait to apply since I was only recently rejected.

Is there any point re-applying now or is it a waste of time...?

I guess if I don't apply now then it is not as attractive later without the bonus FF points.

I followed a similar plan but it didn't work for me. I'm told you possibly need to wait 6 months or so. While everyone else seems happy to shower me with plastic, Amex just won't go there no matter the card I apply for. Weird.

I'm guessing that bonus points customer churn season is probably starting to wind up so I'll probably take another serious look at Amex next year. Its a shame in many ways because I was all fired up to use the Amex towards Velocity points so I could bounce about in the new DJ stuff thats starting to pop up. Nevermind.

Thanks for that, I will hold off for now, I'm running 10k-15k per month through the Woolworths card at the moment so I'm not missing out on QFF and the QEDRCC has a good earn rate for QFF I guess

At least I am hopefully in a better position for my next application when there is an attractive offer out there.

Now that I think about it, I think I was rejected for this card for two reasons
  • Because I trade as a sole trader in my own business
  • My earnings were lower last year as a result of the GFC
  • & Because of lower earnings last year I had available credit of 72% of my annual income (which is now lower because of no GFC & lower still since retiring several $10k limit cards)

Now to watch out for new offerings...

you are best to call up amex and ask to speak to someone in their new applications dept. if i recall correctly basically they will tell you can reapply after 3 months if you circumstances have greatly changed. personally i would wait 1 year. i think they have the 3 months rule in place so that you have to wait before applying for a different amex credit card so that people dont jump from one amex card to the next chasing the bonus points signup offers. if you already have an amex card you can simply apply via the promo offer online and tick the box on the application to request that amex transfer the existing account to the new card which will be approved. however im not sure if the 3 month rule will apply for amex product transfers too?

thanks i didnt know that you could do that. are you sure if i buy a fully flex fare a few months down the track, and wait for the points to post then i can get a full refund and that the points wont be reversed? i was thinking for going to a Qantas travel shop and buying the cheapest thing link a toy plane and then returning it but im afraid they might reverse the points like they did with my bonus points for **** smith when i returned a camera?

has anyone who ticked the box for a supplementary card holder on the application recieved their $50 woolies gift card yet?

I got my Woolies $50 gift card last week. Already spent it in the bottle shop...

Seems Citi & Amex don't like me

"Unfortunately, your recent application for a Citibank Platinum Visa has been declined"

Slowly running out of cards to chose from here, Guess nobody trusts a sole trader these days...

Still, QEDRCC gave me a good credit limit with no real jump through hoop process... Just need to hit them up for a credit limit increase since keeping within my allocated 20k limit is a real struggle for me...!

Don't really know which way to turn now.... Own my own home, over $200k share portfolio and an income of over six figures...? Surely I am worthy of a bigger limit than $20k these days....? Perhaps the GFC is still with us...?

Rumour has it that a $20 purchase of QFF points will do it - you might like to check first. I had the idea that you can only purchase points once a year too, so if you had in mind buying a large number later don't blow your only chance now by only buying a pocketful.
