Am I worrying unnecessarily?

Two weeks ago I finalised a One World J award. 4 days later Qantas rang to confirm my CC details and said it would be processed.

I still haven't had the E-tickets issued, taxes debited or points deducted. The booking reference is in MMB so all still looks OK.

I am travelling at the moment overseas on a cruise ship so ringing Qantas is rather difficult. Could anyone please confirm that I have nothing to worry about and this is just in the queue waiting to be processed.

Thanks for any help.

I'd be happy to check for you. Please send a private message with your details as reference.

I had a similar thing happen when booking an award for Mr FM's cousin from LAX-SYD a few months ago. When nothing had happened after 4 weeks I searched on here and discovered that if details are incomplete things can hang. I hadn't put in his DOB, so fixed that up and within a few days it was all processed. It was actually annoying as the Aus$ had dropped against the US$, so cost of fees had increased in the interim. Apparently it is a function of USA needing extra details for security, so not sure if applies to all destinations.

You must get eticket!...I personally would chase QF straight away...you don't want the situation where it is not ticketed, and you lose your booking, and the award seats (esp on partner airlines) are no longer available...doesn't happen usually but can as it happened to an AFFer here, and all it cost Qf was a revenue ticket in F to fix!!

It took over a month for them to take 378K point off me. The money went straight away though!!!!

Seems unusual. Follow up proactively I think.

At least QF have the booking so this is a big plus...

I've also had issues with ticketing these awards, each time it's been due to having multiple carriers within the one ticket. Your bets bet is to (actually now that Red Roo has offered to assist that will expedite the process so take him/her up on it :) ) continue to chase QF.

I empathise with you sanne.

I booked three RTW J class tickets last week on Wednesday last week...including Qantas, LAN, AA, BA. It's an ambitious plan and took us hours to book with the CSA. The South America legs are extensive and we were advised we were lucky to get mostly J seats. We asked for an extension before finalising and were given to 5pm the next day after the CSA sought approval from a senior CSA...and with assurances our booking would hold.

On Thursday we rang Qantas at 4pm, found some even better connections, provided my credit card details as requested before the 5pm deadline. On Friday, I noticed that one of the smaller flights dropped off..rang again to have the itinerary adjusted. The taxes and points had been debited. Come Saturday, i decided to organise seats only to find the majority of flights had disappeared!!!! These are the LAN flights. Ringing Qantas again, I was advised I had not called in time with my details for LAN...despite assurances from Qantas I was ok to call 24 hours later. I'm guessing the issue was with queues, but the CSA did not advise. Instead she was trying to push the blame back to me. So at this point...the taxes are debited, my points are gone...and i'm waiting to see if some emails sent over the weekend to LAN bring the flights back. It's an anxious wait and i'm concerned I'll be the one having to compromise on organised flights. The waiting and worrying over compromising the trip of a lifetime sucks!!

Thanks so much Red Roo.

One private email and all is sorted.

No problems with booking, just in a queue waiting to be issued.

For future reference, this is not unusual given that it was a reissue, with different One World partners and a long way in advance.

Thanks again Qantas and Red Roo.

The problem with ticketing queues is that partner airlines can cancel seats which for all intents and purposes haven't been paid for. Without a ticket number, payment hasn't been received.

As mentioned up-thread, it doesn't necessarily happen frequently, but is not uncommon. Auto-cancellation times can vary by airline. Always safest for reward bookings to have them ticketed asap. For revenue seats... doesn't really matter, the issuing airline can always pay more money and secure another seat. For awards, the same doesn't always hold true.

A good result that RedRoo was able to assist you given it can be prohibitively expensive to call from a cruise ship!

Hi Franky

Just got off the phone with Qantas. They emailed LAN on Saturday and advised today (Wed) they have heard nothing back as yet...and it could take up to a week. I re iterated that we followed the Qantas processes and provided our cc details with sufficient time for Qantas ticketing to finalise according to the CSA and his superior. Clearly, this didn't happen...even thought my points and taxes have been taken out. As I stated before...i'm worried i'll be the one having to compromise on our locked in schedule...despite the issue happening on the Qantas side. Fingers crossed it all turns out...i just hate the waiting.

Currently having the same issue. Made a change to an existing award booking and have had problems with the new flights ticketing ... have called three days straight and have achieved getting the first leg ticketed and return of 57,000 points ... waiting for the return leg and another 57,000 points to come home.

FWIW really happy QFF released return 2 x J seats to SCL ... even more happier the change from JFK to SCL returns 114,000 QFFP to the kitty :D

Award booking made last night with CSA (system would not see DOH as a starting point) only to find when email arrived she had spelt my name incorrectly, even after spelling it for her.
Was lucky enough to get good operator this morning who was able to cancel that ticket and re-issue with correct spelling - bit of a wait on hold, but nice to have that E-ticket in the in-box.

Hi amaroo

That's great...I may need to take your released J seats to SCL depending on how things work out :). I'm just hoping Qantas (and LAN) honour the original trip we had organised (and payed for through points + tax).
