Am I jinxed?

Qantas Link regularly misplace my luggage flying into DPO and always deliver it to my door - about 60km from the airport
How long do you wait for it? I assume they batch up all the misplaced luggage and send it out together to save money - I rather naively thought it would get delivered within an hour or so of it getting to Canberra, not 8 hours after we got home.

Yay - luggage has arrived in Canberra and we will have it by 6 pm - if Mr FM wasn't so tired I would send him to get it (we live a whole 15-20 min from the airport). I can remember the days when if Qantas lost your luggage then they would immediately deliver it when it arrived.....

Qantas didn't load my bag once in SYD for a flight to SIN. It was sitting at the airport, F tags on, yet remaining very lonely when all his other bag friends got loaded onto the A380. Qantas did call me after I had filed a lost bag at SIN, I did get some money for assistance which I bought some t shirts and shorts at Giordano, and then went off to find my connecting SQ flight to MLE. My luggage made it 24 hours later to MLE which was pretty cool of Qantas but I guess I wasn't complaining because I was heading to somewhere warm, with the clear skies all day and clothing attire very optional ;)

I suppose I am being unreasonable, but is it too much to ask for when you spend not inconsiderable amounts of money on a ticket, to get where you are going when you are supposed to and with your luggage? I consider myself quite easy going as a whole, but 4/4 international flights this year with major issues seems a bit much!

Learning experience I say.
While QF does not like us doing it on the same PNR, I sometimes after my trip to NZ have a wider time between SYDi arrival and SYDd departure to ADL, leaving more time to do the int to dom transfer. By buying separate dom QF tickets.
J class from ADL to connect in SYD to anywhere overseas, (seeing ADL does not have any QF int flights anymore), sometimes very short transfer/transit time, leaving little time to use any lounges.
In your case FM, it might have not been cheaper to get an F class from the US to SYD on the same PNR in J class to CBR, than to have it separate, but next time, if you can afford it, do the booking separately, $$$$$ I know.

No, do not book separate. Use this: Qantas Multi City Flights | Round the world | Stopover | Multiple stops

They could've put it on a courier in Sydney and got it to you quicker.

It usually happens when flying home on a Friday afternoon or evening, with a connection through MEL, and I get it about lunch time the next day.

FM, things were bound to go wrong after they messed up your QF12 flight! At least you still got to fly QF F home. How was the flight otherwise?

^This. Why on earth would you book separate tickets for, say, a AKL-SYD-ADL journey when you could use the multi-city booking page and..
1. Not pay GST on the domestic sector
2. Not pay some SYD airport taxes (presuming stopover is under 24 hours), and
3. Guarantee yourself protection if the inbound flight is severely delayed, as it's all on the one PNR.

Good actually - the black does show a few marks, but then all luggage does. They were very easy to wheel (and we took them over some rough ground). They still are in good condition. The orange straps are great for adding a bit of security to everything and give nice handles for lifting. It was quite easy to manage clothes with the two sides - we could organise clean on one side and dirty on the other etc. The only issue (and this applies to all these sorts of cases), is that you need more space to open them out.

I have just used mine for the first time.
I agree on the need for space to open. I'm thinking of looking at some larger "Packing Cells" a la Kathmandu .
I suspect that the use of the packing cell means the tie town panels may work more efficiently as well.

It was good - professional staff, comfy bed, low turbulence and a terrific ricotta gnocchi - picture in my trip report in the next few days. Only disappointment was it was the grande Dame on offer - I was hoping for the Comtes for my last F flight with Qantas :)

It was the trip of dreams , oh sorry, dramas. Glad it wasn't Mr LtL with all the problems. It would have turned nasty very quickly! Your patience did amaze. Glad you are home now. Glorious Canberra weather for you.
Another example (many examples) of the consistently inconsistent QF

I know - pelting down! Have to get that trip report finished - we did have a wonderful time. :)

1hr25mins (int to dom) means not a lot of time to stay in the SYDd QP/J lounge.
A lot of J class flights AKL/WLG/CHC to SYD/MEL to ADL on the same PNR in my case, gives me 1hr30mins coming back.
One time coming back from WLG, I had to practically run from MEL T2 to MELT1, because of storms the JC flight into MEL was very late. Same PNR. Didnt get the chance to use the MELd QP. Grrrrrrrrrrrr...
Jinxed, maybe not, bad luck, aye to that one.

I don't think this is the issue - if FM wanted to sit around and wait until what? 3pm? for the next 717 flight, Qantas would have let her .... i think.

There's no 717 flights during the day CBR-SYD-CBR so whenever you book INT to DOM if you miss your connection you're stuck with a Q400 - unless 22 mins of J is worth a 6 hour wait in SYD?? Not likely.

NZ to Aust east coast in F, then Aust east coast to ADL in J, the dreaded orange bar comes up.
Multicity also does not like a mix of classes, if same class all the way, thats ok, I have done that before.
But lets say, if I did an F MEL/SYD/BNE, and wanted a whY from ADL to meet that F flight, the orange bar comes up.
OR the requested class is not available or fully booked or something like that, esp if F is ever even considered in a booking match from ADL to Aust east coast.
This is all for online booking, travel agent or QF telephone sales would be able to piece a whY or J from ADL to Aust east coast to meet that F (same PNR) for sure, with an overnight stay in the transitting Aust east coast city.
Not my thread, so will tape my dog mouth shut on this thread from here!

We were offered the 3pm flight, but at that point I think I would have taken a bus if it got me home quickly. :)

Jinxed? You're describing a good day for me....

I don't think FM flies with golf clubs on a Friday night.

Thats been a run of issues Flying Mermaid. Sometimes trips just go without a hitch - others seem doomed from the start.
