Alternative use of airline points

Just wondering, will they have any A380s next April / May as I'm booked ion F? 😁
In the meantime, I too have 'left over' points and am seeking something to replace my very effective but coughbersome Bose NC over ear phones. Does the Apple Ipod Pro do effective NC and movie watching on board?

no doubt some will have the same view as you... but the redemption rates are not the best. An ipad from the Krisshop also gets you a business class one way to Europe on an award. SQ isn’t likely to go anywhere.

Well, I had the points because I cancelled a business class round the world trip.

There are many issues at play here. Firstly how long will the points last before they expire? What will availability of seats be like, in J, to any place that I actually want to go, in any reasonable time frame? Do I actually want to go to Europe (or anywhere else for that matter), in said time frame?

Redemption rates may not be the best when used in this manner, but if the points are otherwise of limited value, then that equation changes.

All good questions! So at the moment SQ are extending the validity of points in 6 month increments. But if we get to the stage where they finally say 'no more' and the points will expire, then a Krisshop redemption makes sense.

Personally, i can't wait to get out travelling again, so it's only a matter of 'when', not 'if' for me on that front.

Definitely worth watching KF given the life of individual points.

Agree they will only keep extending for so long.

I decided to buy an iPad. I'm going to get out of the points entirely, not just SQ but Amex as well.

I expect I'll probably have to pay some sort of GST bill when it gets to Oz, but Krisshop is happily sending it, as best I can tell.
You can pay the GST using your credit card and earn some additional SQ or Amex points.....o_O

You can pay the freight in cash by CC if you want.

I bought the airpod pros, 100% with miles. I've been thinking about buying them for the past month and am long Krisflyer miles, so the offer was great timing for me.

Will be interesting to see how long they take to arrive!

The airpods pros arrived today - just under 2 weeks via DHL ... not bad, considering.

Gee, Apple do have a way with design, don't they :). I think an excellent use of surplus KrisFlyer miles, so thank you @jb747 for alerting me to the Krisshop.

The 12.9 inch iPad that I ordered also arrived today. I’m not 100% sure were it will fit in to my personal ecosystem, but I suspect it will displace my Macbook. Two weeks. Quicker than Dan’s.

Slight off topic reply - but that's pretty much where I ended up once I moved to the larger iPad. The laptop has become more of a permanent desktop. I've even gone as far as using the iPad for Lightroom edits etc (USB C hub and a direct import from the card).

PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite members can earn PPS Value or Elite miles respectively, for every SGD1 spent on KrisShop.com, at KrisPay partner outlets with their credit/debit cards and when they convert KrisFlyer bank partner reward points to minimum blocks of 50,000 KrisFlyer miles. Co-brand credit/debit cardholders who spend on KrisShop with their co-brand card will enjoy a 25% bonus on the PPS Value or Elite miles earned for every SGD1 spent.

This might be of interest to some with expiring KrisFlyer miles - KrisShop is giving 30% off full miles redemptions until 30 September 2020.

Yes saw thqt. But they won't deliver alcohol or cosmetics to Australia.

Thanks for the update. Was there any duty to be paid?

Took out 5800 SQ KF points, for a coffee spoon, also from Krisshop, wry look.
That was for inclusive of what they term postage.
Better to use the points for knickknacks, rather than let them one day expire, granted that at the moment, KF is extending the life of its miles, but how long will this go on for?
The points I had in KF wasn't enough for redeeming points for a VAd flight.
Next one I might go for, is to see about as mentioned on this website, about booking with Vrooms.
Seeing also, that the transfer of VFF points to KF points, looks like its not coming back, as far as we can tell, eh?

I briefly looked at that email and thought I’d indulge some KF points. I wasn’t sure if they posted and - if they did - it would be more points than the object bought.
Was it a nice teaspoon?

I had a poke around and most of what I liked did not ship international🥲. I suppose I could get my SQ batik outfit and tray to pretend I’m a cabin attendant …. and a teaspoon of course
