As I suspect that I'm not going to be able to use my points for flying, I was wondering about using them for purchases. In normal times, this would be a terrible use of them, but perhaps the only way now.

What I was specifically wondering about, is if anyone knows if Krisshopper has Apple devices drop shipped to Oz, or whether they go via Singapore. Do they come directly to Oz from Apple?

Not sure about Apple products from Krisshopper ... but you can get gape products purchased and delivered using Qantas FF points ;)

Dunno he point of origin, but Krisshop charges a SGD28 delivery fee. There might be a preference for an Aussie device in terms of warranty?

Yes Singair points. I’ve just cancelled my upcoming bookings. Points came back almost immediately.

I guess I’m feeling that the points are rapidly becoming valueless. I’m not particularly concerned about the warranty on an iPhone.

Valueless points for a iPhone or two seems reasonable.

Sorry JB I'm missing something here......you've been flying since the 70's - Skyhawk A4E's as I recall (Nowra Hill and all that, Vintens & 623's & 633's, AR1 and Quad radar, maintained them all) - landing on aircraft carriers. Then 747's (everyone's dream on AFF) - and you want to know what to do with your frequent flyer points???
Really??? (Just kidding!)

Get it right. A-4Gs. Though the difference is little beyond the letter and some wiring.

As for the length of time I've been flying....none of that got me any points at all. Not even brownie points. Like most crew members, they are something I had little knowledge of, until I became an ex-pilot.

Interesting when I talk to other crew as well about the points game. Almost none know of how to use them and just rely on stuffing travel (not a typo). Because Virgin have no seniority when it comes to staff travel bookings, I made the decision long ago to be able to travel in style on a much more confirmed ticket and be treated better than a staff member on holidays, not to be looking at my phone every 5mins wondering if I’ll be making the flight in 2 days time.

hmm... its sad.
so with my St George card I currently have enough points for a return flight to Europe in J on Singapore Airlines.
If i use all those points for gift cards, i'll get around ~$2500 back, significant drop!

i'll wait it out I think

EDIT: yes there will be a deval, but worst than the above drop... hmm i dont think so

St George might devalue? SQ just had a devaluation recently, not expecting another one there.

JB I think you would be OK with iPhone coming from SQ - just never buy one of the grey phones from the likes of Kogan as Apple will tell you take it back to Kogan - iPhones purchased in China cannot be serviced in Oz - Apple will tell you take it back to Apple in China - but I assume the likes of Krisshop would source their phones from Apple Singapore and would therefore be covered by std Inter Warranty - that is best I can get from my Apple sources

Can Krisshop deliver to an Australian address?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

just got an email, airpods are 30% off on the KF store till end August, if paying 100% by KF miles.

I decided to buy an iPad. I'm going to get out of the points entirely, not just SQ but Amex as well.

I expect I'll probably have to pay some sort of GST bill when it gets to Oz, but Krisshop is happily sending it, as best I can tell.

Amusingly I received an email from KrisFlyer with deals yesterday on some Apple products - 30% off the points cost for some of the accessories (Airpods etc).

Afternoon edit - I should've looked further up the thread (by two whole posts 🤦‍♂️)

I got that email too, but thankfully it wasn't telling that what I'd just bought was marked down. Interestingly, in the couple of weeks that I've been looking, a large number of the items have gone out of stock. That may reflect the fact that new editions are due for many of them, but I wonder if it's not also a reflection of other people thinking the same way I am.

You can pay the freight in cash by CC if you want.

I bought the airpod pros, 100% with miles. I've been thinking about buying them for the past month and am long Krisflyer miles, so the offer was great timing for me.

Will be interesting to see how long they take to arrive!

no doubt some will have the same view as you... but the redemption rates are not the best. An ipad from the Krisshop also gets you a business class one way to Europe on an award. SQ isn’t likely to go anywhere.
