I am thinking of changing from Alltitude points to Anz for frequent flyers. As you need about $70000 points plus cash for a return flight Perth-Gold coast with Alltitude.
How many points and cash with Freq flyers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

50,000 and whatever the 'taxes and charges' are at the time.

Don't forget that you can convert your Altitude points to QFF points, rather than using the points with Altitude Direct or using points+pay.

You will get two Altitude points for every dollar spent on Altitude Amex, and one Altitude point per dollar on Altitude Visa or Mastercard. Each Altitude point converts to half a QFF point, so it is effectively one QFF point for every dollar spent on the AMX and one QFF point for every two dollars spent on Visa/MC.

What is the conversion rate with ANZ? (I could look, but am too lazy). What are the limits? I seem to remember something about there being a monthly limit, which Westpac does not have (at the moment).

(btw, there is a Westpac forum here, down towards the bottom)

On ANZ Qantas Visa, 1 points for first $2,500 spend (then I don't remember after that, as I never spend more)...

Me neither, but I think above $2,500 it's 0.5 pts per dollar spend, up to $10,000, which is the cap.

Cheers

I used to average between 4K and 6k per month on ANZ Visa gold, and occasionally up to 8K, and it wasn't until I read the threads and realised I was only getting .5 ff after $2,500 that I changed cards. I now put everything I can on Amex Rewards Max, and W'worths MasterCard when Amex not accepted. Everything is now covered. I would rather deal with a point for point exchange rate than two for one etc.

ANZ Rewards Visa has an special for customers who apply online and who are approved by 15 December 2005 and activate their card by 5pm (AEST) 15 January 2006 will receive 16,000 Bonus Points.

However, be careful as it also states:

Earning points

In any monthly statement cycle you earn the following points on purchases made using your Classic Card (excluding cash equivalent transactions):
One point for every dollar up to $1,500 spent.
One point for every two dollars over $1,500 spent, up to and including a maximum monthly spend of $5,000.

ANZ per month Qantas Visa:

Gold- 1pt per $ for first $2,500, ½ point per $ for next $7,500 then zip!: Max per month 6,250

Blue- 1pt per $ for first $1,500, ½ point per $ for next $3,500 then zip!: Max per month 3,750

The primary 'Bonus' partner of these ANZ Visa cards are Qantas itself which generates 2 points for every $1 spent.

Apart from that you can get a lot more benefit from the no questions AmEx 1.5 points per $1 cards or do what I do and also have a Diners Card and tell them to give you 2 for 1 or you will use your AmEx. :)

This only works if you have a reasonable spend.
