Alliance Airlines will fly four times per week from Brisbane to Prosperpine (Whitsunday Coast) from later this month, flying on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. They're advertising $99 one-way launch fares which include 20kg of checked luggage.

A day after the announcement, Jetstar announced the relaunch of its own BNE-PPP flights with $39 fares.

VA1 furious about being left behind on this too

I just checked the QQ website and PPP is no longer listed in the flight search or their network map?

FlightAware indicates the last flight was in early January (over 6 months ago).

It's odd because I can't find anything mentioning they've ended the route. In the Nov/Dec 2020 magazine, the CEO noted they've launched a few routes including the BNE-PPP saying "The success of these routes has exceeded our expectations" and then in the next Jan/Feb 2021 edition it's gone from the route map.

Obviously, the airport and tourism Whitsundays stopped subsidising the route and so it ended. It went out so quietly that no one has even updated wikipedia yet.

I thought it was on the orders of QF - in light of the launch of their own service...

I thought it was on the orders of VA QF - in light of the launch of their own service...

What you say makes sense if you put VA instead of QF. VA and QQ are allowed to collaborate on the route:
