All International Arrivals into Australia to self isolate for 14 days

The thing is, in Australia you have free medical care if you get sick and need it. Do you have that there, given travel insurance won't cover it?

But will insurance cover it if DFAT has not declared a Do Not Travel advisory? I mean it was all booked well before CoronaVirus was an issue as was the insurance.

Currently at LHR waiting for my flight to DOH and ADL. The new self isolation directive is no problem.

I noted in another thread abt 5 days so that I was going to self isolate on arrival and have arranged for the friends who are garaging my car to stock it with groceries when I pick it up.🙂

Meanwhile, everyone cheer up a bit, eh?

But when I get home

Hard (proportionate) but fair, even if a few days late. All incoming pax on flights affected from midnight. Self quarantine for 14 days.
Cruise ships similarly restricted for 30 days initially but allowing Australians to land but then self quarantine.
Is that Australians or Australian permanent residents returning ?

Oh dear, I am currently in Wellington and flying home on Thursday. I tried to book a new flight tonight but there's simply not enough time, any news about exactly how the quarantine will work yet? Can I go to office for work?
No, but can you work from home?

Im not 100% sure, but while policies aren’t covering cancelation etc, I’d suspect medical coverage if you become unwell overseas are still as normal.

Unfortunate situation we know people that snapped up seat mate to race home just in time and it was very stressful.

No, you cannot go to an office unless it’s an office of one person (you!) and you have no contact with anyone else either.

According to someone on Twitter (so take with a grain of salt) after the announcement
was made only 7 passengers boarded UA60 SFO-MEL

Watch out for the general exclusions in any policy.

UA may as well upgrade all of them given that all the catering would have already been loaded...

I'd say anything related to covid19 will be excluded whether it's medical expenses, cancellation expenses, disruption expenses, repatriation expenses or whatever. But everyone needs to read their own policy - they are all different.

I see this a bit but having never flown with them are they REALLY that bad?

One of my employers had me on UA for a while. Flying them, I got the distinct feeling their staff loath the company/management and were doing passengers a favour but fronting up for work. You got service but you also got a free slice of attitude as well.

That was my experience, have seen similar reviews here on AFF but as always your own experience is the one that counts :)

Not now that it's a "known event".

You would definitely want to check this before travelling. Generally insurance won't cover you if you knowingly put yourself in danger.
