ALL Accor+ Explorer Membership Discussion

I've followed up with Accor Plus support via email - for those curious the email address to use is: [email protected] ; the benefit of email is you have a written record of what was said versus a phone call where if you don't have call recording capability on your phone may be problematic.

In any event, they got back to me and indicated that I should receive the 2,000 bonus points and extended expiry date (I'm hoping they'll provide the additional 10 bonus days on October 1 but only time will tell).

Would like to check. I currently have 30 night credited from my July renewal. If I buy the China package for any extra 20 nights and stay an extra 10 night. Would I qualify for Platinum for next year?

I would expect so nightelves.

My membership rollover is September 30th, meaning I am caught right on the cusp of the new system starting October 1st. I renewed in August and my new A+ date extended to end November 2026, but have not been credited with the 30 bonus nights yet. I did receive my new stay plus night.

So I made the assumption that my 30 bonus nights will then be credited under the new system. I am (was, now) close to achieving Platinum again in 2025 and so purchased some China 2.0 nights. I’ve now ticked over 60 nights (mix of actual stays and bonus nights) and my account shows Platinum status through to end November 2026; in line with my A+ renewal. I have also been credited my 2 new SNU. I have hopefully removed the risk of how many bonus nights apply under the new system, as I have reached the quota in the old/current system.

It would be one hell of a change of process if they then decided to renege my status come end of year when it’s clearly been achieved under the current system.

From the T&C of the current scheme (as at September 9th, 2025)

"1. PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

...

The Programme is governed by these Terms and Conditions of Membership (‘Programme TCM’). The Programme TCM is available at ALL.com and on the ALL.com app (‘Website(s)’). Accor reserves the right to modify them at any time. The modified Programme TCM takes effect on the date they are published online on the Website and are considered accepted without reserve by any user browsing the Website after their publication. The applicable Programme TCM are those effective on the day of browsing on the Website."

Accor have covered themselves in terms of how hard ball they want to play out the change since the T&C allow them to makes changes at any time, and any change takes effect on the published date (ie 1 Oct for the new program).

So this will go one of two ways come 1 Oct:

1. Hard ball: new terms kick in, which means status for all is recalculated on 1 Jan 2026 as per new rules (ie max 30 of the 60 nights requirement need for Platinum to come from credits, and other 30 to come from real stays. Irrelevant if you met eligibility under the old rules, since they no longer exist. Hard ball means a cohort of unhappy 2025 Platinum members come 2026.

2. Apply gesture of good will to keep affected Platinum members on board for 2026. But currently nothing formally available to indicate this is the approach they will take (other than adhoc contact with customer service)

Yeah do not want to risk spending Accor China if later it doesn’t count towards Platinum.
if you were going to stay those extra 10 nights anyway, then u can always just take a gamble and buy the 20 china nights. It's only RMB1188 currently (around aud250), and hope for goodwill.

No weren’t going to stay the 10 nights. This is all hypothetical. I’ve only accumulated about 32 nights so far.

I must ask: why bother with Platinum status if you’re only staying at Accor properties for 10 nights a year? Why spend all of this money on buying status through these memberships. Is 10 nights of free breakfast at the hotel (provided you stay in Asia Pacific) really worth it? Sure you’ll get upgrades and other goodies from time to time but from my experience unless you stay enough (for hotels) or fly enough (for airlines) status is rarely worth it

I’m contemplating it as I’ve got 2 nights booked for start of next year and maybe a few more and weighing up the cost if it’s worth it. Also there’s a status fast-track with Qatar Airways that’s appealing for gold status.

Sorry if this has been covered above.

I'm looking to book a hotel in Europe (Geneva) for a stay in April next year.

Is there potential benefit in holding off until after October 1 so I can take advantage of the then worldwide 15% discount, or would it be better to book now?

(The third option is to book a refundable rate now and cancel if rates are better post October 1).

Unless you're seeing something better than 15% off a best flexible rate that you're willing to lock in, I'd go with option 3. You're only 2 weeks away from access to the global discount

I booked fully refundable stay recently, but once we get the 2nd free night on Oct 1 if there is still decent rate I will rebook to use those nights.

I guess this used to make sense under the old system (before 1 Oct). You’d get 30 nights from renewal, basically the equivalent of a 5-star stay at somewhere like Sofitel Melbourne or Sydney Darling Harbour; plus 10 self-stay nights, and another 20 from Accor 2.0 (China) worth about $250. That would push you up to Platinum, with free breakfast and lounge access easily worth $50–$100 for two per stay. So even if you only stayed 10 nights a year, it more or less paid for itself or better.

And I forgot to mention, the All Platinium - > Qatar Gold conversion also gave you plenty of lounge access, which was a sweet bonus on top.

With the new setup, though 2x “buy 1, get 1 free” the perks seem watered down. Most people won’t happily fork out $500–$700 a night at a 5-star just to justify the “free” second night, unless they really want to see how much champagne they can sneak out of the lounge😅.

Yeah it filters out the OzBargain type folk who only sign up during the half price membership offers for the sole purpose of using the free night at a premium hotel.

Perhaps but IME Ive never had much luck getting a premium redemption for the old voucher for just one stand alone night; as I tend to want to stay weekends. But as soon as I search for a 2-3 night stay I seem to be more easily be able to use it, so i dont see it as much of an impact.

The current Stay is has worked for us and we have got some real good value out of it.
I think the new system will be more favourable for us though dependant on any exclusions which we already know about

Just curious if anyone knows of any special/ promotional pricing on A+ in any region right now.

I think it’s pretty clear with the announced changes that membership in Accor Plus doesn’t need to align with Accor ALL in any particular way, going forwards. Status will be determined by the overarching ALL program rules of what you have done in the 12 months to December 31st of a given year (incl. up to 30 bonus/free nights from A+), and that’s that.

Sign ups to A+ will continue to run and renew on the same 12 month blocks as they do currently.

Maybe I’m being pessimistic here… but I think they’re trying to cull the numbers of the ‘not so loyal’ elite members from the base, and so I expect there will only be limited exceptions and extensions to elite accounts that haven’t made the cut, come Dec 31st 2025.

The one main caveat to my pessimism… I do think they will most likely honour elite members who have reached or retained Platinum under the pre-October rules before September 30th (even if it was with more than 30 bonus nights) with status maintained through the end of 2026. But this also remains to be seen!

Cheers,
Matt.

If you are hoping for crazy upgrades as a Platinum, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but that's probably not going to happen. I've stayed at everything from Sofitels to ibis budgets and everywhere in between and generally your Platinum status will get you a corner room, perhaps on the top floor of the hotel. Sometimes you get a slightly more spacious room. But if you are banking on an upgrade to a suite (particularly if you haven't used a suite night upgrade certificate) it's frankly not going to happen.

There is lounge access which is nice if you happen to stay at an Accor property that has one (most do not). Free breakfast is nice but that only applies in the Asia-Pacific region. I would also be hard pressed to find more than $100 value in that particularly if you are only planning to stay 10 nights or so.

Accor also gives you a free gift every year which this year is your choice of an annual Wall Street Journal digital membership, a 6 month subscription to PressReader and a few other smaller goodies to choose from. Again there's some value in that but hard to justify spending hundreds on memberships just to get to Platinum.
Also there’s a status fast-track with Qatar Airways that’s appealing for gold status.
That is a solid value in my books, provided of course you fly the one segment operated by Qatar needed to secure the status. The other nice thing I believe is that re-qualification requirements on Qatar do seem to be lower than that of Qantas.
Sorry if this has been covered above.

Couple points if I may. First and I tell this to everyone thinking of booking an Accor property now is search for the property using the mobile app in addition to the website as sometimes they run mobile only offers that are 10% off right away. To your point about waiting for the 15% discount or booking now. I think the sensible option (unless the price differential is huge) is to always book fully refundable. In that way you can cancel out and rebook if you find a lower price. And guess what? There is a good chance Accor will be running sales in Europe for travel during the early Spring period. Most likely that'll appear toward the end of the year or early next year. Some of these offers you'll need to activate in the app or on the website. This is what happened to me when I was needed to book several weeks of hotels in Frankfurt when I was moving back in August. I saw Accor was running a 25% off promotion for stays in Europe and guess what? The Mercure and ibis hotels near Frankfurt Hbf were about 50 Euros per night, with a fully refundable rate to boot! So unless you see some crazy prices right now (i.e. 50 CHF per night) I wouldn't bother trying to lock anything in.

Stay Plus works well when you can find availability at the hotel you want to stay at a time you want to stay. For myself, it worked out brilliantly as I exclusively managed to use them at the Sofitel Darling Harbour, although this required booking many months in advance. I think for the average punter though, the current Stay Plus system was a challenge. Indeed a colleague complained that when he had Accor+ all he could seem to find were ibis properties, far negating any value of the Plus programme.
