Alaska Airline 40% More Bonus Miles

I have just booked some great airfares, so thanks to this forum for assisting in creating a cheap effective way to fly around the world in business and first for the price of economy.

2 x PER-HKG in J and HKG-LAX in F on CX for AUD$1800 each Lifemiles on the way home from London and AAdvantage miles for BA first accross the pond! Also managed to book 3 others in J HKG-LAX and they are slumming it in economy on the way up to HKG.

I purchased 120K miles all up on this brilliant Alaska Air offer, will get 2 of us SYD/HKG in J return!!, cost after currency conversion was AUD$3150 in toto. Then using QFF points for balance HKG/DXB/VEN/VIE/DXB/HKG in J.

There is a 10 day waiting period, also international credit cards take 24-72hrs to process and credit miles after purchase

I joined and 7 days later purchased, the 35% bonus finished on the 20th Dec., even then miles are still reasonable. Once purchased mine arrived in 24 hours. My understanding is Alaska Air miles offers like this with 35% bonus are twice per year, not sure when.

Like other programs you may need to buy over a couple of years.

On another forum said you can buy as many as one wants on AS. In my case 2 x 40K & 1 x 10K plus bonuses all up 120K.

Yep, I purchased 340k miles without a problem, no questions asked!!

Heard there may be issues using the same card more than four times in a month though, so did you have to use a second card?

I'm trying to appease a fussy HWMBO who wants to go to HKG for NYE. Could someone please check if there is any availability using AS miles HKG-MEL in J on CX (or I guess QF provided it's A380 via SYD) for 2 pax on any flights Jan 1-3 2015 (which is about 333 days out). Not fussed as to flight times but prefer overnight.


Could you please also advise of the cost of buying the AS miles for this redemption? I have no miles.

I was patiently waiting for this offer to come up again!

Thanks to this forum I was able to book Business Class to LA from Perth on cx for 5 people!!

We are mixed class going to Hong Kong and Back but the long legs from Hong Kong to LA and return we are all in Business class.

Alaska allowed me to do mixed class so we are in Business/Premium economy and economy up to Hong Kong from perth then Business & Premium Economy back to perth fron Hong Kong.

So thanks for everyone's help!

Also as a tip, I booked my husband and infant together using my Qantas points for total cost of 278,000 points and $1300 rather than buying 120,000 alaska miles and paying 10% of the fare from my infant which equated to total cost of around $4500 (alaska buy cost + infant fare and taxes).

So bring on October/November!!!

Also because I had to buy 480,000 points Alaska and points.com RISK team/customer service had to manually authorize the purchase as it was so many points in 1 go. I also did 5 transactions on 1 credit card and 4 on another.

And Alaska's customer service when i called them on skype were fantastic!

is going to the US via HKG with CX from Perth all in business class the same number of points (approx 52k each way) as going via SYD/BNE/MEL with QF?

Australia to North America is 60,000 points each way on cx using Alaska miles.

You can't mix carriers though so can only fly CX all the way through as opposed to going perth - Melbourne qf then mel to hong kong qf then across on cx.

It has to be the 1 partner from origin to destination. Once in the US you can go onto your destination but it must be with Alaska metal.
