Hi all - just noticed my Alaska Miles E-Statement contains an offer purchased miles to obtain a bonus of up to 40% more miles. It seems like a tiered offer (the more you buy the more you get) but the ceiling is up to 16,000 bonus miles. I haven't purchased miles from Alaska before and am not up to speed on the rewards value so I'm hoping that someone here can offer some good feedback based on experience.

Thanks,
Sigh

its seems like getting a business class seat from AU to the USA is almost impossible... anyone had any luck for the long leg? I can get intra AU and intra USA with ease but the long haul flight is almost always in Economy

Its very very difficult to get seats in J in from any of the Qantas AU-LAX flights from any of the partner airlines; Alaskan is no exception.

Is it possible to buy more than the 40000 points? I know I won't get the 40% bonus on any extra points, but you can't get a return ticket to the us with just 56000 points :)

Like other programs you may need to buy over a couple of years.

From my reading and research thus far, seems to be no annual limit.
There is however a CC limit on points.com meaning you can only have 4 transactions in a 30-day period on the one credit card.
Note that SPG and AAdvantage programs also sell their points through points.com.

Has anyone been able to buy these miles via the website, while the bonus is being offered? I have had to ring them to make transactions, and have not been able to get a satisfactory explanation?

Anyone?

CX J to North America for 60k...I wish AA allowed transpacific on CX.

I did SIN-HKG-(YVR)-JFK on CX F last year using AA points. You do have to ring AA to ask, these flights don't show on the internet booking site.

Sorry I meant with Australia as departure point. That's one big benefit of the Alaska program over AA (apart from slightly better burn rates).
