Good airfares and I immediately thought of the Queenstown DO in November.

But....

I also thought of the Queenstown "DO" when I saw that.

Not worried about the FF points  but would prefer it if Qantas matched so I could stick with them.

Me too ...

The fare only seems availabe if originating in Oz. Note that you could grab one of these one way to NZ, and use the current QF NZ sale back to oz @ NZD199 the other way.

ex-NZ sales to 30 May for travel to 30 Nov (excl 20 Jun to 15 Jul and 21 Sep to 7 Oct)

NZ or QF AKL/WLG-SYD/BNE NZ$208, AKL/WLG-MEL NZ$209

EK -SYD NZ$208, -BNE NZ$206, -MEL NZ$207 (black out dates vary)

I can see myself piecing together flights to get myself from Perth to Queenstown for the do.

I have a feeling Qantas may have nearly matched this deal today.

A return BNE-AKL is $448. ($240/208 AUD each way).

Yesterday I looked, and keep thinking it was over $300 one way... Am I mistaken?

OK dug a bit deeper. Qantas have a 2 day sale to AKL and WLG (sound familiar?) from BNE/SYD/MEL and perhaps others.

$240 one way from BNE, $244 one way from SYD and $237 One way from MEL.

Havn't checked other cities.

Sale is until 18/05/2007, and is for travel 14 Oct 07 - 15 Dec 07 for BNE and SYD, with MEL having very, very different dates (ie Aug only or Oct-Dec?)

Think I may be getting closer to a confirmed for the Queenstown Do!

I noticed earlier today that PER-AKL/WLG was going for $468 OW (although when you search it comes back as PER->AKL $461 and AKL->PER $432), which is lower than it has been. It made me think that PER-BNE-AKL-CHC-ZQN might be a productive way of getting there, using sales stuck together, and allowing stopovers along the way.

EK appears to be cheaper... between SYD and AKL.

$75 cheaper for a random long weekend in August and in November.

Decisions, decisions! Do you think QF is likely to come back again later with a similar sale for the same dates? I guess it does not matter as I will only be looking for one way SYD-AKL and some creative domestic routings to get to Queenstown and the return will more than likely be a LAN business class.

I would love to confirm the Queenstown DO but I need to concentrate on paying the bills for my upcoming RTW first. Won't be ready until August/September.

Probably depends on whether they need to much an NZ sale :)
