AKL and beyond for a week

Flight from SYD to AKL is alright time, but food is nothing great. I believe you get served what they call a "snack".

Flight from AKL to SYD sports an OK breakfast (hot variety includes an omelette with sides with fruit), but that is - what you refer to as - the departure at an awful hour.

I fly out 30 mins later, so not so bad. I would have woken her up anyway!

Cool. I just had a look on Thrifty's NZ website, and they have 25% off right now so ended up booking direct rather than through VVV.

Looks like I saved around $120 NZD all up.

Nice one! :)

Our rental starts around 2 hours before that discount kicks in :( (I'm not hanging around at AKL for 2 extra hours at night to get this rate).

We'd probably save ~NZD 90 between 3 of us, so while it would have been nice, it's not sending us to the poorhouse.

Yeh, for so little not worth it. Enjoy your trip!

Omelette? Argh! I haven't eaten eggs since I was 3. I finally learnt how to cook an egg last year. Bubbly for breakfast it will be!

We'll co-ordinate our timing so we're both sipping down the bubbles at the same time. :p

Bubbles? What bubbles?

Do they have champagne in the AKL J Lounge now? Or perhaps just mere sparkling wine?

Right. So is Coke!

Oh, I thought it was powder

Anyway, an interesting thing I noted about the LAN e-mail (bringing it back on-topic :D) is it notes that "Your trip to and from Sydney includes a stopover in Auckland".

Really?

Only 1 week till we fly out now. All the hotels, B&B's, and the rental car has been booked; along with a show that our B&B hosts in Rotorua are involved with.

You've carried the same wisdom in booking our Euro trip to your Kiwi trip. Well done:!:

Have fun. If I double check the times and dates, I might try and get out to catch you for lunch (along with LW).

Sounds good, look forward to catching up if you can make it.

I called a couple of shuttle bus companies for quotes on getting to and from Sydney airport. Company number one told me they come to Ulladulla but not Burrill Lake . I then hung up without saying anything else, figuring that if they can't work out where Burrill Lake is, they probably can't work out where Sydney is.

Company number 2 said $130 from Burrill Lake but $60 if I can get myself to Nowra. Then she went on to tell me they would get me about 230pm and have me at the airport by 4pm! Are they planning to use a Delorian and fly me through time?

Is looking like I will park my car at the airport meaning no good morning drinks on my way home. Or I could catch the bus :evil:.

You could still have 1 or 2 glasses of bubbly on the way home, and still be OK to drive by the time you get through customs, wait for my flight to land, see me off etc

Arrive 2pm... out at 6.45pm, so 4.75 hour layover!

Hmmm, looks like I am going to see a client near the airport at 2pm on that day;)...plenty of time for a beer/steak at the Brekky Creek etc, then drop you back at the Intl Terminal about 4.30pm (so you can have time to check out QP and I can beat the 5pm traffic), then home for me at normal times. Happy days!!

You're in my diary :)

Time of your transit in BNE has been noted. :)

I'll keep you updated on availability, but it will also depend on what you'd like to do in your brief transit. LW, what's your positioning like on that day?

I'm not too fussed. Anything goes....

I'm in my office (Fortitude Valley) all day (presently) and if we can meet up somewhere, I can take you out to Airport and then back home.

Sounds like a plan - the 'back home' part might be different as I need to get back into the city (after work do :D). But that won't be difficult as there are drop off points for public transport that I can take depending on your routing to go home. I could take the Airtrain too, but I'd like to avoid paying the $12+ "Airtrain surcharge".

Actually, I'm in the city from 9am until midday Thursday on a training course (overlooked it in iPhone earlier), so I'll be going back to the office to pick up the car and head off from here.

You decide how you need to get to where you are going. I can drop you where you need to be.
