Airports which are absurdly close to the city

Love the outdoor cinemas in Broome which are underneath the approach. Can watch a movie and plane spot at the same time. Two shows for the price of one.

EWR to down town Newark, approx 3 miles.

Cairns Airport is pretty close to its city centre. I've learned that people actually walk between the airport and CBD! This is despite much of the route not necessarily being pedestrian friendly.

It depends when they walked. Pre COVID and shortly after there was a reasonable walkway with placards at points of interest etc. .

The walkway seems to have been basically let go in the last year or two.

FUN Funafuti airport in Tuvalu, where the runway is open to the public when there are no flights operating.

Milan Linate (LIN). Also now closed but Berlin Tegel (TXL) was close to the Berlin centre and most major areas.

Belfast City Airport (BHD) quite close to centre of Belfast.

Google tells me Osaka Itami airport is 20 kms north of downtown Osaka. Compared to KIX, 40 kms south of the city, that seems relatively close.

I did the CNS walk a few times from home.

PER also pretty decently close, really.

Well it’s close to the strip, but it’s not especially close to the city (downtown). About 15Km.
