AirAsia Lie Flat Seats

Looks like AirNZ Business Premier / Virgin Atlantic Seat or maybe a bit closer to the SkyBed on QANTAS...

Not like the NZ/VS (herringbone) flat bed seats at all, more like the QF skybed or any number of other carriers who have angled lie flat seats.

I do think they're on to something here. After all, I am sure many would be happy to do without the catering, service etc and just pay for a better seat.

That actually looks pretty good! Imagine you can get yourself to cheap (ie when on sale) XL Class all the way to London this way!

Is it just me, or do these seats look somewhat narrower than the standard J offering of the likes of QF/MH/JL etc?

Yes I thought that before reading your post. And a little close to the seat in front.

A smaller J hard product for the price of Y+ , if and when that eventuates, the AUS-KUL-LON route starts looking pretty comfortable on the bottom as well as the pockets.

Is this Air Asia or Air Asia X?

What is it with airlines and their confusing names?

AirAsia is the short/medium haul A320 (basically) operation while AirAsia X is the long haul operation using A330s and A340s.

Sure. I am sure long haul should have given it away although it would be easier for people like me if the right name was used on the thread, like "Air Asia X Lie Flat Seats". I don't bother clicking on Twitter or Facebook links.

Does it make a difference on AFF whether it's called Air Asia X or just Air Asia? It's still essentially the same airlines, no different to Jetstar who operate in a similar mode - short(er) haul with narrow bodys and long haul with A330s. In fact I don't know why they bother with the X on the end. Air Asia actually operates under 4 different codes/entities - AK (Air Asia Malaysia), FD (Thai Air Asia), UZ (Air Asia Indonesia) & D7 (Air Asia X), but as far as the customer interface goes, they are all bookable from the same website.

I guess it doesn't. I will more than likely have an Air Asia flight in June and was interested in what is happening.

Yes it is confusing. Air Asia would have sufficed....

It’s about $500 from OOL - KUL - LHR isn’t it? Does anyone know how much more it is in XL seats?

I had a look at some random dates around Aug/Sep and a Premium Promo Fare was approx $2700 return OOL-KUL-STN

Sounds like a pretty decent fare for those new lie flat seats which look very much like the MH J seats.

Do bare in mind that once the new seats are officially unveiled the prices will go up.

ODUs are often available for ~$250-300. I never saw the point, considering that doesn't get you food etc. And I always book far enough in advance to get my favourite seat :)

I am not so sure that these seats are going to be as comfortable as we first thought. They are not flat but look very similar to the very uncomfortable " nearly flat" beds which I have been subjected to before on other airlines and which have received so many bad reviews. I would rather have one of the seats presently offered in the Air Asia X A340's.:(

I'm happy if I get 3 economy seats in a row to myself as a 'bed'. So how's the price to London compare for a narrow Air Asia X lie flat bed to an economy seat on Qantas, Emirates or Vatlantic?

Power Sockets!

They look pretty short. The fellow in the first pic would struggle to straighten his legs.

Reading the blog.

In Economy.
Have ditched the fixed shell seats - too uncomfortable and replacing with a classic recline seat

Also no IFE in any of the new seats (inc lie flat).
Portale solution coming soon.
