Air Pacific, Points, SC's and Lounge Access

In terms of the Reef Lounge, its solely a One world/CX lounge, given CX are the only ones with a flight now ex CNS its fair to say that unless you are on CX then there is no access, as one world rules apply requiring a ticket for a One World operated flight for admission, while this may seem a tad unfair for PX...

So I take it this would mean a WP or SG could get in if on a CX flight. That sounds good.

PX have an agreement with CX, no problems getting in to reef lounge on a PX flight with an executive club green card. Perhaps CX have other agreements, e.g. Continental possibly for the CNS-GUM flights, but I have no idea.

To be frank, the Reef lounge is not a place I would be busting to get into

You won't be a starter for my tour of tragic lounges of the South Pacific then! As lounges go, I've found it a delight for the F100 PX flights, spotlessly clean and noone there.

I think the following is correct for SYD-NAN-HNLvv:

1 pt/mile for BGHKLMNOQSTVWY (Econ) classes, 1.25 pts/mile for CDIJ (Business) classes.

90 sc Econ , 360 sc Business. ...

Is the M Class Air Pacific designated as Discount Economy (45 SC) or Economy (90 SC)???

If you are looking to credit to QFF, aside from YBHK on JQ metal, Y class is the only international class that credits as full economy.

For international flights, Qantas Discount Economy includes classes B, E, G, H, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S, and V, and Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards booked in X class.

Not a marvel of readability those tables

In the fine print of the status credits table is the comment " For travel on oneworld Alliance airlines or Air Pacific, Economy is class Y. "

I have just noticed that this will apply to me. We (+1 and baby G) are flying SYD - NAD in a few weeks on a classic award. Y on the way there, J on the way back. I had assumed a classic award would have QF code but just looked and it is FJ.

Mrs G has never had the pleasure of visiting the SYD F lounge, but from reading this thread it appears she may miss out again. Is it worth trying for entry ?
Worse still - do we have line up with all the other the Y pax at Air Pacific? :( Or can we check in at the Qantas F desk?

With reference to QF Partner Earning Table

Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by an
airline other than Qantas.

The bolded bit refers to flights that have an FJ flight number, but are code-shares on any airline /other/ than QANTAS.

On the other hand if it's an FJ flight number (FJ marketed) on a QF flight (QF operated) then you still get whatever is listed in the earning table.

I know this thread is a bit stale now, but I don't understand the above at all. Checking flights today, I see that MEL-NAN is operated by Air Pacific. Emphasis on "operated by".

Now, of course reading here I know that NAN runs are a popular way to reap SC's, but reading QF's statement really sounds like something funny is going on. MEL-NAN is clearly a codeshare flight, the metal is FJ and its "operated by" FJ as well.

AnonymousCowards response, if I am to try hard to understand, is that perhaps the Qantas statement is attempting to help OneWorld customers viewing the page? So, its a specific statement in relation to FJ, not a broad statement about QF in general (which is how I read it initially).

QF's statement is very strangley put together. What is it? Yoda speak? Points you won't get if codeshare you book unless Qantas you seek.

The statement is made in reference to FJ numbered flights.

If you fly FJxx_ on FJ metal - then it applies (marketing carrier is FJ, operating carrier is FJ)
If you fly FJxx_ on Qantas codeshare - then it applies (marketing carrier is FJ, operating carrier QF)
If you fly FJ that is codesharing on some other airline - then it doesn't apply. (marketing carrier is FJ, operating carrier is not FJ or QF)
 
Aside from JQ metal, with QFF, if the flight number is a QF one (e.g. QF391) then earning is as for QF - points, SC and any bonus apply, regardless of the operating carrier,

Also, this is irrespective of the ticketing carrier, CX, AA BA, QF etc.

It strikes me that I was interpreting that entire airline partner table incorrectly. Thanks for helping to clear it up in my muddled mind :)
