Was using sky scanner to check on flights Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur and stumbled across Air Malindo.

Malindo Air - Smarter Way To Travel

They have a Business class product that looks to be a bit better than *class at 42" seat pitch.

Their economy is pretty good for a budget carrier at 32". Far superior to Air Asia.

Business class KL to BKK can be as low as 399RM with 40KG of luggage. I'm looking at a cost of about $200 AUD which I'm happy to pay for what looks to be a reasonably comfortable seat for a couple of hours, plenty of luggage for shopping in Thailand and free meal.

Seems they only started operating n 2013.

it looks good! A major stakeholder is Lion Air, with a chequered history of running off runways or not landing exactly as intended... although there have been very few fatalities out of the 10 incidents to date. most of the accidents everyone has survived (and injury free).

lion on air is banned from flying to the EU.

We have flown them a little on domestics, on their ATR services. Generally seems up to standard. Catering was at least existent ;) certainly good for competition. Yes there's the lion air ownership which you can access for yourself. Would choose over AirAsia especially with the luggage situation.
