Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

Probably not relevant, but I always found there was a big difference between the motion of Boeing and Airbus fuel control switches. The B was a more definite action, and very easy to operate, whereas the A seemed to be a less defined motion and so a little harder to complete. You had to think about, or be more serious, with the AB. Neither struck me as being something prone to accidental activation.

The BBC is reporting that Air India has just grounded a 787 after its pilot reported a fault in the aircraft’s fuel control switch.
The preliminary report into last years’ Ahmedabad crash noted that the engines were shut down when the fuel switches were moved from ‘run’ to the ‘cut out position’.

This is total nonsense cover-up by air india and india in general.

I wouldn't step foot on them either frankly and won't book my family with them.

Working fuel switches mustn’t feature on the MEL for Air India!

I've read reports of bad pax behaviour on VA and QF. Do you avoid them too?

I have never read nor heard first hand stories related of the same ilk as told by the team of Indian nationals assigned to work with me and all refused to fly Air India on the regular trips back and forth during their multiyear contracts on shore.

YMMV.

I have always avoided that airline due to reports of bad passenger behaviour. This just adds to my avoidance of that carrier.
I once had the unfortunate experience of flying KQ doing NBO-BOM - never ever again - the kids seemed to have had far too much red cordial (red bull hadn't been invented back then) and the parents were quite happy to let them run amoke.

Pretty low act IMHO, hopefully most ignore it:

Air India has offered additional compensation to families of victims from the June 2025 Boeing 787-8 crash, asking them to waive future legal rights in return. The London bound flight crashed shortly after departing Ahmedabad, killing 241 people onboard and 19 on the ground.
Families are being offered between Rs 1 million and Rs 2 million, roughly £8,000 to £16,000, if they sign indemnity agreements releasing the airline from further claims. This comes after earlier payments promised by Air India and its parent company.
Lawyers argue the investigation is still incomplete and say families should not give up legal options.
Lawsuits are ongoing in the United Kingdom and United States, with claims filed against Air India, Boeing and Honeywell.
An initial report suggested both engine fuel switches moved to cutoff shortly after takeoff. The final accident report has not yet been published by authorities.

Outrageous! They’re automatically entitled to compensation under the Montreal Convention which far exceeds the £16,000, even before any issues of negligence come into play (in which case it could be unlimited).
