Air France is apparently going to start letting people on-sell non-refundable airfares to other people if they're no longer able to use the ticket.

The seller will then receive back 50% of the fare as a "reward" as well as any taxes paid. This certainly seems better for the customer than losing the entire value of the ticket, which is usually the case. It also means the seat doesn't fly empty as it's up to the passenger to find someone to fill the seat, and not the airline.

Air France is now allowing passengers to resell their non-refundable tickets

Personally I like the idea, but I do worry that this could lead to ticket "scalping", e.g. where people buy cheap tickets on sale then try to sell them on third-party websites for much higher prices. There's a reason most airlines charge exorbitant fees for name changes...

if you have no control over who gets the ticket, and you only get 50% of the resale value anyway then I don't see this as viable for scalping.
Since "Flexifly" is effectively a licensed re-seller it's no different than any other authorised ticketing house for concerts and sporting events offering to re-sell no longer required tickets.
