Air Canada Delays/ Cancellations

Tuesday 20 December 2022 sees AC33 again badly delayed, with C-FIUA (B772LR) arriving at an estimated 1255 hours, 190 minutes behind schedule, delaying the returning AC34.

With the extremely cold temperatures in Vancouver, Canada an inhibitor to anything close to on-time departures, on Tuesday 20 December 2022, AC33 (B772LR C-FIUJ), the 2300 hours YVR-SYD did not take off until Wednesday 21 at 0334 hours. Arrival is shortly at 1411 hours, 266 minutes late. This will badly delay the returning AC34.

It's minus eight in Vancouver at 1800 hours (1400 AEDT Sydney time, with us ahead of them).

Fog was predicted for Monday 26 December 2022's morning in SYD, and seems to have affected arrivals until QF44 from DPS was able to land at 0647 hours.

AC33 from YVR to SYD was already running late - chilly over in Canada - with B789 C-FNOG in a holding pattern offshore at 0658 hours despite scheduled SYD at gate arrival of 0645. FR24 it's become 0736 hours, 51 late, but may blow out a little due to the queue of aircraft trying to land.

B772ER C-FIUJ is on AC33 from YVR down to SYD that on Thursday 12 January is arriving at 1132 hours, 107 minutes late. This will delay AC34, the return flight.

The YVR down to SYD AC33 arriving on Thursday 29 June 2023 has B772LR C-FIUJ with gate arrival suggested as 0815 hours, 65 late as on Tuesday 27, this 2240 hours flight didn't take off until 0025 on Wednesday 28.

AC33 from YVR down to SYD is arriving on Wednesday 12 July 2023 at 0838 hours, 88 minutes behind the timetable with B772LR C-FNND. The 0925 hours SYD-YVR return flight has no chance of departing prior to 1015 hours.

On Sunday 1 September 2024, AC34 departed from YYZ (Toronto) at 2111 hours despite being a timetabled 1845 hours off blocks. It arrived YVR at 2239 hours, 118 minutes behind schedule, and then took off at 0101 hours on Monday 2. SYD arrival at gate on Tuesday 3 should be 0843 hours, 83 late.

B773ER C-FIUA should then depart SYD as AC34 back to Vancouver at about 1025 instead of 0920 hours.

On Friday 21 November 2025, AC33 from YVR to SYD arrived at 0908 hours, 27 minutes early with B772 C-FIUJ.

However the return working, the 1120 hours SYD-YVR is badly delayed with the aircraft still in a queue waiting for takeoff as at 1318 hours. Quite a few other international flights ex SYD look to be delayed: is there a problem with a runway or something else?

Friday 12 December 2025 sees AC33 from YVR to SYD (B772LR C-FIUF) likely to arrive at its Sydney gate at 1318 hours, 223 minutes later than the scheduled 0935 hours. Oddly, the return flight, AC34 that's normally an 1120 hours pushback is showing on FR24 as doing this at 1729 late this afternoon. Since 6 December, this aircraft has been operating YYZ-YVR-SYD and return: on 6, it took off three and a half hours later than its scheduled pushback at Toronto, so it's fairly similar almost a week later.

In another Air Canada 12 December delay, AC86, the scheduled 1045 hours midmorning BNE to YVR took off at 1416 hours with B789 C-FGDZ. Forecast gate arrival becomes 0911 hours, 166 minutes late (same day).

Monday 15 December 2025 sees AC37 from YVR to SYD (B789 C-FVLQ) that must be a Christmas extra arriving at 0826 hours, 91 late. The return flight AC38 isn't timetabled out of Sydney until 1600 this afternoon so in theory it won't be late.

B772ER C-FIUJ as AC33 ex YVR for SYD is arriving on Tuesday 16 December at 1224 hours, 169 minutes late. It had earlier departed Toronto, Canada about three hours late and has not since made up time.

On Monday 22 December 2025, AC34, the 1120 hours late morning SYD-YVR took off at 1434 mid afternoon. Arrival same day for B772LR F-LIUJ should be approximately 0928 hours, 158 minutes behind schedule. The preceding two sector AC33 had departed YYZ (Toronto, Canada not NSW!) about 100 minutes late on Saturday 20 evening, but hasn't managed to make up any time.

IIRC, this flight didn't always 'through work' to Toronto: originally it terminated in Vancouver, Canada.

Timekeeping of AC33/34 is often poor, but the aircraft is dealing with a wintry, perhaps snowy Toronto, Canada and what can be the obverse in Australia: summer storms or very hot weather on occasion.

AC35 from YVR to BNE is arriving on Christmas Day 2025 at an estimated 1854 hours, an extraordinary 609 minutes later than its timetabled 0845 hours blocks on. Aircraft is B789 C-FNOG.
