From memory or grapevines, I think that:
  • The price of this redemption has gone up
  • AC are clamping down on such redemptions

The other North American airline programs are similar; US is particularly notorious, and CO apparently has a generous routing ruling. I think they are not scrutinising as hard on these airlines, so people can get away with some pretty wild routings.

Outside of the North American airline FFPs, they're all pretty strict on routing rules and costs.

The price moves up on 15 July, as per post and Airline website. To 175k. One can book 12 months ahead, I believe. SQ does show first class cost on it's *A award table. From memory, 145k from NA to Asia.
