Anyone flown Air Australia J class BNE to MEL yet, looks a good price $349:shock:

Was $299 on sale in Jan... I am flying tomorrow. So i should be able to give a review pretty soon.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

Their plans must be really ecological. I mean, they're green.

Great I have to do a few Melbourne trips over the next month, I look forward to your report. $299!!!

According to the news this morning, Air Australia have gone bust...

Ouch… sympathies to those that are stranded

*** Confirmed by statement on the www.airaustralia.com website

Thanks for the heads up. I've now booked a DJ seat (Business of course!) as a backup, and will assess the situation later.

I feel sorry for the travellers stuck in this mess (and yes, I am one - but my options are simple), and for the staff. The warning signs have been floating around, and I actually had a feeling last night that the Administrators would be called in (The news article yesterday is a common red flag).

The writing was on the wall when they didn't get their A330 and had to lease one from another airline & they were looking for an investor!

They needed cash and never got it

Sad as it would have been nice to have MEL-HNL flights

Blind Freddy saw this one coming, it was a story foretold unfortunately! I feel sorry for those without access to that information of course that are stuck....

Well discussed on here that they probably wouldn't survive and our corp team banned them from the start from our BFOD policy because 'quote: they will go bust'. I'm suprised the media wasn't more onto it months ago....it was hardly a buried story..... Weird Though I guess it doesn't have a kangaroo on the tail so it was probably ignored!!

Feel for the employees most of all.

And the timing is ironic - were they trying to bury the story among the QF news to lessen the damage?

But yes, it was always coming, but the media didn't focus enough on thier troubles so innocent pax just kept booking. You feel for those stranded but that is the risk with a carrier like that. If they have an aircraft U/S, you are usually on your own.

Makes you wonder why they were selling tickets up until yesterday, when they more than likely could see this coming.
Credit to the other airlines that have stepped in to help the stranded travelers, and condolences to the Air Australia workforce.

Air Australia placed in administration - Sydney Morning Herald

Another airline I will probably never fly. Quite a lot of businesses are resuscitated by VA, not quite the kiss of death that receivership is, but the odds not particularly good for airline VAs at the moment I think.

Mal and the other PAX have my sympathies

Cheers skip

QF are offering to give pax a ticket of equal value at no charge, that's a very nice offer from AJ!

And a nice sidestep from the job cuts story:!:

Mark Korda just interviewed on 612 ABC Brisbane, he was called out in the early hours of the morning. Rumour has it that there was not enough cash to buy fuel for the return to Australia from (coughet?) and that was the reason the flight was grounded...

Just realized I have some customers who flew to Bali earlier in the week with them for a conference, Ouch!

Yep, apparently the Thai's wouldn't let the plane go till the bill was paid (hence PAX were told a delay initially). Seems they couldn't find the readies to pay the fuel bill.

Also, there was a report that ANZ was about to step in....

So QF who do all this nasty cost-cutting (attempting to keep their organisation solvent) are expected to ride in as usual and save everyone as our "national carrier"...

I don't think anyone expected them to, and of course the destinations affected are essentially JQ destinations anyway....

Had flights booked w/ Air Australia MEL - HKT next Thursday 23/2/12 coming back HKT - MEL 3/4/12

Rang Travel Insurance Direct this morning - they tell me they will not cover any loss due to the insolvency of a business, some help they are!
I paid by credit card so will try and chase up a dispute with my bank right now...
