The difference is they are planning an 840-seater ALL ECONOMY plane.

It has i believe some govt ownership or subsidy, so people were saying on airliners.net but apart from that i am not sure.

AF i believe also run 10 across on there 777's don't they ?

Only on some of their 777-300s (3+4+3). The AF 777-200 and some 777-300s have 3+3+3.

Either way, 11 across in 380 or 10 across in 777 is all bad and why would you fly them from Aust when you can fly QF for the same price?

Why do people fly jetstar to some places ? because in there mind they think its cheap ? i dont know i guess they will have some 'deal' with the travel agaents to make up cheap packages.

The A388 has a much higher available floor space to weight ratio than the 747. Unless they are going to use up space with lounges/bars/massage rooms etc, there's no reason why the pitch should be that small.

airports won't just need double/triple airbridges they will need XL gate lounges.

I'm not sure that that will be completely humane. I'm sure that there will be battery hens sniggering under their breath when they hear about that. What do they do, smear you with an industrial lubricant to slide you into your seat?
So with 840 people on board, you'd each be allocated about 300grams of luggage allowance, and hand baggage must be no larger than a small matchbox. To save on weight, the entertainment system will consists of a FA flicking through a picture book at the front of the cabin. And it would take longer to de-plane than it would for the whole flight!

I'm quite looking forward to trying the A380, but not under those conditions.

eeek... I could imagine meal served on long haul to be a single mars bar.. all the energy packed into the smallest thing they can find..

I always thought that it would be possible to have 800+ plus seats on an A380 with an all economy configuration. I think the 555 seat limitation may have been mentioned if an airline was also offering premium cabins in the configuration.

Emirates has a two class config of 644 passengers, and the A380 was certified to 853 pax, so you can stack em in !

555 was Airbus' suggestion for a typical 3-class configuration. It is not a limit or restriction, just a suggestion.
