Air Asia losses increase, reducing Australia capacity

Agreed.

I have done Air Asia OOL - KUL many times now - exactly for the reasons of low $'s on those trips. I have also had to deal with the nightmare that is dealing with Air Asia when something went a miss on one trip. So I sympathies with the OP, being hung on the end of the phone for ages with little or no satisfaction or result at the end is certainly no picnic, but it comes with the territory.
My point and I totally agree that I should of made it differently, is that when we spin the LCC roulette wheel we knowingly take on more risk. When things go awry, rightly or wrongly, you pretty much know you will be put through the ringer even if the problem is not your fault at all. Those repercussion / disruptions etc. usually (but not always) being greater with a LCC than with a traditional full service carriers.
That is just part of the additional risk we assume when we put our money down with a LCC.

The point is very much taken however, the form of my original comment was not appropriate - please accept my apology in that.

Thank You Clivem...apology accepted and greatly appreciate you posting that. I have flown Air Asia many times intra Asia in the past, and generally have had no problems. Usually, when they cancel a flight, you get a notification email, and you can go online and select an alternative flight. My main gripe is that even though I know the flight has been cancelled, I have yet to receive the cancellation email notice and their booking system has not been updated, so the call centre can't help me ...I have since emailed their complaints centre so let's see what happens. At the end of tha day, I have made 2 flexible hotel bookings to cover the 2 possibilities...we fly the night before or the later night flight on the original day. PS it is good for one's soul to fly Y every now and then :) especially when you have to pay for 5x tickets!

kpw I'm just wondering how you went dealing with D7 and your cancelled flight? I ask because I have the privilege of being on the yet to gain approval MEL-DPS service. Enquiring to Air Asia got me a similar response to yourself - your flight is not cancelled yet, so we can't do anything. Not a great solution, given the messy proposed inaugural flight:
