Coonawarra is a fantastic region. I may have ordered 3 bottles of a certain Cab Sauv at a certain restaurant last night.
With regards to visiting Coonawarra, it basically can't be done as a day trip given it is quite a long way from Adelaide (~350KM I think). It is fairly "close" to Mt Gambier which does have an airport, but it is only served by REX which may prove more expensive than a bus from Adelaide. You could probably land your Gulfstream there Steady
Essentially you need to do a minimum of 1 night there, probably 2+ to really get to see it properly. The wineries are all close together, and pedal power can be a fun way to tour around during the days.

We had the conference in the cave. Yes, in.Narracoorte/Penola is a great place to visit.
You've got the world heritage cave systems, the wine of course, and then there's the free open air swimming pool in Narracoorte which is a great place to cool off on a hot day. You'll probably want to stay around Penola as there are (in my experience) better food options there.
Perhaps we need a Coonawarra thread? Mods?
Although I am brand new to this forum, i would love to come to the meet up. Especially as I work right in the centre of Sydney - very easy. I hope brand-newbies are allowed?
I believe there's an exclusion policy for axe-murderers, broadsword-murderers, sharp-stake-murderers, assault-rifle-murderers etc. Otherwise I think you're allowed in - check with Wozza

Rules - Blind tasting. Bring two identical bottles of Cab Sauv of your choice (one concealed). Can be a Cab Sauv straight or a Cab Sauv dominant blend. Can be from anywhere and any vintage of your choosing. Owners of the top picked wines will take away a stash of wine. Dress-up (optional for the brave!).
