AFF Subscription Paused!?

I believe I am on a grandfathered rate for Gold - will this go away when I renew with Stripe? I went to the link and it just shows me the current pricing structure.

Yes – in all honesty it shouldn’t have continued renewing at that rate for so long, there aren’t many that are on it. The current price for Gold will apply moving forward.

@admin , @support I'm hoping you can clarify the action I need to take on membership.

My membership isn't due to renew until June 2024, but I have received an email indicating a deadline of 20th January 24 to renew my membership. From the initial email notification and discussion on this thread I thought I just needed to change over to stripe prior to my renewal date.

Appreciate confirmation if I need to take action by Jan 24, or Jun 24. If it is by Jan 24 am I losing 5 months of membership?

Hi Zig, great question. Will do my best to explain it here and hopefully it will help everyone with similar questions.

Almost 2 months ago, we consolidated our different payment platforms to one platform (Stripe) to enable self-service for all members. Your current membership was set up on another payment platform (PayPal), so it won't renew in June 2024.

The email you received is aimed help you renew your membership now, so that your account and benefits are transferred to the Stripe platform. The email contains a personal Stripe credit with a value that equals the pro-rata $ value of your current memberships + any special offers. You can apply this credit to the membership of your choice.

Zig, in your case, because you are on special Gold Offer ($25 Gold Membership), the 5 months on your current membership are valued at $13 and the credit also includes $50 to honour your special offer. In summary: you would have received $63 credit, so for $12 you can renew your Gold membership for the next 12 months and keep your special Gold Offer ($25) going. Once your Stripe account is set up, we can automate any special offer renewals.

I hope this answers your questions and helps to clarify the reasoning behind us setting up this transition process for members who are not yet on Stripe.

Hi @admin,

Thanks for the above, that is very helpful. Just to clarify it in my head, for @zig's situation:

- They are currently on $25/yr Gold, expiring June 2024
- The Stripe renewal offer is $63
- This $63 is made up of $13 pro-rata refund + $50 to honour the special offer
- The $13 basically "refunds" their membership between January 2024 and June 2024
- The $50 then provides @zig with an effective one-year renewal rate of $25 (the standard rate of $75, minus the $50 credit)
- So if @zig took up on the renewal offer, they will pay $12 (the $75 gold membership, minus the $63 credit) and end up with a new expiry date of January 2025.

I'm just trying to work out how that applies in my situation.

- I am currently on $50/yr Gold, expiring 29 May 2024
- My Stripe renewal offer is $20
- I assume this is made up of approx $17.80 pro-rata refund (130 days left @ $50/yr), and ~$2.20 (not sure how this was calculated, possibly a rounding adjustment?)
- I assume that @zig's special offer is of a different nature to what I am on, and I am not eligible for any special offer renewals in the future (as per the post from @support above)
- As my Stripe renewal offer is almost all associated with the pro-rata refund, my effective one-year renewal rate is $72.80 (standard rate of $75, minus $2.20)

Just confirming that if I took up on the Stripe renewal offer now, there is limited difference compared to if I did it at my official renewal in May as there is no additional 'special offer' credit in my case?

Hi Pangwen,
Great summary. Indeed any member with a pro-rate amount below $20 was rounded up to $20.

In your case, the offer is indeed not reoccurring as the one for Zig. As you mentioned, you have the option to renew your Gold membership now with a $20 credit for $55 for the next 12 months, or wait until May 2024 when you automatically drop back to a basic membership. At that point you can manually upgrade to Gold for $75.

In summary, as requested by the community we provide an opportunity now to swap to Stripe in a simple few clicks so you don't have worry about your membership expiring next year, while making sure that reoccurring special offers and membership credits are honoured. Each members is definitely welcome to upgrade their account on their own accord after the expiry date.

It's not an easy task to help our members move between payment systems, so your support and patience is very much appreciated.
