AFF Member Stock Discussion

See page 268-269 re “Australian” Prospectus.
I'm currently on page 8 of the US prospectus. 🤣
My current vibe is that most of the valuation will be from the AI sector and Starlink is the cashcow (to keep the lights on) in conjuncton with the rockets necessary to maintain the Starlink constellation and a side project (Moon/mars) for Elon to play around with.

Similarly over at Tesla, the cashcow to keep the lights on is the car manufacturing business while he develops the autonomous self driving side of the business along with robots.

I think as it’s offered to retail investors initially, the price will bounce on open due to the institutional investors buying in. I’m thinking buy now and sell a few days after issue. All index funds / superfunds ect.. will have to buy in. It will be the top 10 stock in the world!!

I’m sure no one cares if it’s actually making any money - strange but this is the industry.

Broker email just now suggests they will have an allocation.. $875 > $440 range per equity.
Don't bother us with less than a 10k order… maybe 12 shares.. wow..
Also need immediate advice to open an International account , thought we had one.. hmmm
Tempted just for a giggle

Open a commsec account and then an international account. Very easy. Might want a few accounts if you want a bigger allocation.

I've been using Totality Wealth (formerly Saxo Capital) for years but I'm no longer impressed and am in the process of moving to Interactive Brokers.

Depending on what you instruments/markets you want to trade, CommSec is fairly limiting. At least it was some years ago when I last used it.

I read that outside Commsec, any alternate source to acquire (via the USA prospectus) requires the person to be a “Sophisticated investor” (which I have), but easier via Commsec.

I’ll probably try for an allocation and offload if they take off like a rocket (pun intended).

While I am tempted to have a dabble just for fun... I probably won't..
For some excitement, I can more easily just buy some tulip bulbs at Bunnings, or place a big bet on the Lions-v- Freo, or even hit the pokies on sat nite..
It may become a day traders paradise, every time a starship crashes and burns the shares will tank and every time they catch one the shares will bounce.

And with the inevitable scale back in allocations the “maybe 12 shares” is likely to become something like “maybe 5 shares”.

Commsec is open to all retail investors. No need to be a sophisticated investor.
When you say outside commsec - do you mean Macquarie wealth / other brokers that are able to sell the stock.

Getting money from the Pentagon for cost over runs won’t be easy for Space Ex. They have just spent their budget already. The satellites for the internet have a 5 to 7 year use by date and then they fail.

That’s what I said ie CommSec is a relatively easy option for Oz locals under the Australian IPO.

My understanding is the “sophisticated investor” is a legal requirement if someone is peddling the USA IPO offer to Australians via whatever channel they can access.

No, my reading was as above. ie buying into the IPO via the USA offer.

My understanding is that CommSec is the sole authorised Australian Broker for the IPO, but presumably other brokers / institutions can access that on behalf of clients/funds etc (but that’s definitely not my area of expertise!).
