I agree, but that is the position of Deaf Australia and advocates for the Deaf.I therefore think the idea there will be a significant increase in the numbers who take up Auslan is a bit of a fantasy.
It is one of the several reasons why i think Cochlear has never had a significant uptake of implantation rates.
Even with a Cochlear implant many children learn Auslan because there are situations where the processor (the outside part of the Cochlear) cannot be used - such as swiming, or watersports.
