Australia should not be running deficits in any State nor Federally. Currently we are shoveling debt onto our next generations due to lack of discipline.
We are currently in California and you probably would not want to retire here as the cost of living is still rising here.
Thought about driving up to Sacramento to look at Cobram’s land purchase but have decided against it.
Have both Trajan and IPH tanking along with a small holding in CSL. Just letting them all reset their market pricing before considering averaging down.

The intelligent masses all understand that deficits ( the bigger the better) allow them to live beyond their means at someone else's expense.
It's a no brainer , why wouldn't they vote for that ?

Reece up nearly 15% this morning. A buy back announced.
15% is an insanely excessive (over)reaction; buybacks don't magically create $, it's just a company allocating capital which the company already has. I suppose it does say that the directors think that it has excessive capital which it can't get a better ROE on (or if I'm cynical that the CEO wants to meet his share price KPI)

Rare earths: LYC SPP closed Friday, currently up 15% on issue price ✅. Arafura Resources ARU who have been developing the Nolan’s rare earth project for what seems like forever are also currently tapping shareholders for more cash and having to work a bit harder to convince long term financiers and the market.

Correct. Unfortunately the number of people who vote themselves benefits for a living are greater in number than those who work for a living.

Yes @Quickstatus We almost passed on the Silex SPP as we have many. Don’t fully understand what they are doing.
We sold ARU the last time they were at 61 cents and now just watch how difficult it is to get their project fully funded.
Lynas and Eagers have traded up.
Am disappointed that coal mines in QLD are closing because the royalties are too high. One hundred percent of nothing gets a nothing result for everyone.

Expecting to see WDS fall again today after oil down again overnight. Will be a buy again soon.
WHC has had some good trading opportunities. I haven't traded it but seeing repeated price trends in excess of 10% is tempting.

Any thoughts on whether La Trobe can survive the current crisis. Have money in a 12 month account that matures in 11 months time so kinda stuck
As I understand it, ASIC action was not about the soundness of the investments, but of the communication by La Trobe of the investment's suitability re risk/reward. So ASIC stopped La Trobe accepting funds. But it did not stop the redeeming of funds... it was La Trobe decision to disable their website perhaps to discourage withdrawals, I believe that you can still do so by phone if eligible.
Survival of La Trobe and soundness of the particular funds are separate (except in the case of fraud/illegal investments as currently occurring elsewhere 🙁)
This is just what I read, I have no special insight , perhaps AFF financial planners here know more.
