Didn't take long...
A police escort past our hotel in POM, escorting quite a number of WCE supporters in a number of trucks and utes! Papua New Guineans are almost as big sport nuts as Victorians!

The right team won and Eddie was gutted with about 13 seconds left, they panned to him in the crowd. He knew they couldn’t get the ball up the other end and score a goal.

Mason Cox was double teamed most of the day and only kicked a couple of goals in the last 2 quarters.

We went down to my sons AFL club and watched it with about 20 others on their big screen. Most backed West Coast so it was a lively affair.
 
Yesterday I read one Port supporters wish for the GF and it nearly came true. He wanted the Eagles to win by one point from a kick just before full time which grazed the post but was called a goal.

No they didn't ... Weagles had the better group of players but the pies played better as a team - aside from some goals out of their backside in the first quarter.

It was West Coast who nearly choked missing some easy shots to kill the game.

They won by five behinds, equal goals.

Pretty even ball game. In spite of my prejudices (hating Collingwood on principle) , I was mildly in favour of them winning for Buckley's sake.
Otoh , my call mid game was that WestCost should ( & probably would ) win..they were the better team and in the end the better team won.
After a year or two of watching the game , my calls are mostly right, guess I should start betting…..

If Collingwood got a last minute goal, I bet Darling would have felt pretty miserable....
