Well, yes those threads were discussed, in line with the discussion in the thread itself. For the thread to be locked, only admin has the capability of doing that. I haven't looked at the thread yet (came to this thread first to report in).

Had a great time, finally meeting Clifford Reichlin and tuapekastar. A lot of laughter, stories and some ales inbibed. Thanks to all who were able to come.

IainF and I were particularly hungry by that point, tuapekastar. Was able to catch up with IainF for a quick breakfast this morning.

I guess others have noticed that JohnK and thadocta have both disappeared since the turbulence a few days ago? Anyone know what's going on?

Dave is not overly prolific at AFF. He spreads himself over a few other boards as well, and has some strange work shifts, so his presence can be quite sporadic.

I had no noticed JohnK's absence, but now you mention it ...

JohnK is, as far as I am aware in Adelaide this week, so maybe isn't getting much time to post.

Apologies for my delay in thanking you all for making the time to meet on Monday evening. It was fantastic to finally get to meet Lindsay, serfty, IanF, Mwenezi and tuapekastar. You guys really do live and breathe the stuff and I am in awe of your knowledge and - more importantly- your willingness to share.

I think we should make this a regular event!

BTW: Regarding the "turbulence": I thought it was best to step in quickly and lock that forum as I didn't want things to get out of hand. We may disagree with other AFFs - and thats healthy cos it keeps the community dynamic - but lets try not to get too personal :)

I agree entirely, and while I understand that this event was probably just taking advantage of people being in the right place at the right time, for some of us that would need to travel from Perth/manipulate our travel to be in the right city, it would be nice if more notice could be given. But I understand that this may not be possible.....

Strange? You call 1400-0200 strange? How about 1600-0400? Or even something really weird like 0700-1900? :D :D

I just do as I am told....

Agree on both counts.

:D :D Yep. Anything other than 0800-1700 is strange. Hang on a moment, I must be just as strange  .

Thanks for replying admin. And good to see thadocta back :D .

I never left - as NM pointed out, I spread myself around across a range of boards, and work weird and wonderful hours. I also don't feel the need to post unless I can offer something which hasn't already been provided, or to correct something which has been incorrectly posted, something which I haven't felt necessary for the last few days. Thanks anyway. :D

Lindsay employed his mobile to contact a couple of the most regular posters here.

I knew I was highly irregular - I guess this confirms it :D
Me too. I have been blacklisted due to the high count of post padding. :(

I'm especially interested now having read thadocta's [name] [number] post (No) Prize up for grabs thread - and finding it locked
At least one post was deleted from that thread before it was locked. The captain is quick to ensure that everyone returns to their seats very promptly in the event of turbulence.
YGPM. Thanks for the PM 'twas a nice gesture.

I would have loved to be at this do but when I looked on QF website there were no return flights MEL-ADL after 7:00pmish. Maybe I can make the next one if enough time is given to keep calendar free.

Can't get rid of me that easily. Very busy driving all over South Australia with no internet access.

Gee thanks... That makes me feel a lot better.

Guilty as charged your honour.

3 days of golfing heaven. Barossa Valley, Victor Harbour and North Adelaide (north course) plus a trip ADL-PLO-ADL.

Good to see you back, JohnK.

While I'm not a golfer, I have been to the Barossa and Victor Harbour a number of times and love both places. Sounds like fun.

Also having driven down the Great Ocean Road to Victor Harbour and stayed there the night..a lovely spot, JohnK.

I've only just got back from MEL Wed PM - it was a real AFF/FT week:

every day - on phone to Dave 10 :-: Noble
weekend - wedding in Yarra Valley, upgraded by Hertz to a brand new Ford Falcon XR 6 (it had done 11 kms) - only humble #1 Club Gold. Thanks Hertz!!
Sun PM - upgraded to Suite (Room 1702) in MEL Hilton on a Premium Club $195 voucher. Thanks Hilton!!
Mon PM - drinks with IainF, serfty, mwenenzi, Clifford Reichlin and tuapekastar - with added phone calls from NM and Dave Noble; dinner with IainF as we were staying in the Holiday Inn - snagged a Suite there as well. Thanks Dave 10* Noble and Holiday Inn. Pity IainF missed out on his upgrade.
Wed PM - shared taxi to airport with IainF, ODU upgrade to J (points) and sat next to IainF, caught taxi with IainF, rescued IainF's mobile phone (thanks to taxi driver dropping it back to me)...

I'll get around to reading my last weeks' worth of threads/posts on the weekend.

Without doubt. Now thadocta and others in SYD, I'm trying to organise a trip to SYD for (nights) 26 and 27 Feb. Will confirm (in new thread) if I can organise and we'll do a meeting in SYD.
