You'd be surprised...

I thought it'd be more along the paradigm, "Don't talk about the war."

Close to a week left! Badges are coming... (Don't say too little people to bother... it'll be a souvenir and a precedent to be set...)

Guess we should also start collaborating/consolidating/collecting:

  • Arrival (into ADL) and departure (from ADL) times and flights
  • Accommodation details

My details:

28NOV Melbourne to Adelaide QF685 dep 1410 arr 1500
30NOV Adelaide to Melbourne QF696 dep 1925 arr 2110

Staying at the Hilton.

For me:

28NOV Melbourne to Adelaide QF689 dep 1515 arr 1605
30NOV Adelaide to Melbourne QF692 dep 1725 arr 1910

Also staying at the Hilton.

PS. I haven't noticed if we are booked for Saturday dinner (I guess numbers have been uncertain)?

PPS. Have been to both Barossa and McLaren Vale before and both are just fine, so I don't have a preference from the point of view of which is better.

Also FYI on Breakfast / Lunch for Sunday

Just letting you know that I've tried to add more people for Brunch, but they're completely booked for Breakfast!

So this is what I have organised-

I've kept the booking for 4 for Breakfast at 10.30, and add a booking for 7 (4 from breakfast plus additional 3) for lunch at 12.00

What this means is that late comers can come for lunch instead of trying to wake up too early and make breakfast... as per previous discussions of people not turning up for breakfast..

If this does not make sense, let me know...

Sounds like it's a good place though, if it's that popular :)

Also FYI on Breakfast / Lunch for Sunday...

Well...that certainly opens up some options, for instance I could sleep in! Unless some people are going to leave after breakfast......

<slightly OT> Hmmm...this is odd?

I was just reading through my details again and went over my Hilton reservation, then noticed that I'd selected a rather expensive rate. (Probably in frustration to my earlier blunder.) This was all about 2 months ago now.

As a bit of interest, I searched Hilton again for the ADL Hilton on the same dates with the same promo code...and low and behold I find the same room types with the same promo code, but a lower cost (at least 20% lower for that matter).

Needless to say, I cancelled my previous booking and rebooked under the new rate.

Is this unusual? Do several people here frequently do this kind of juggling?

</slightly OT>

anat01,

I've done this with Hilton and Intercontinental quite a few times. The rates certainly fluctuate with demand. (Not unlike airfares)

Yes, I often book an available flexible rate a long time ahead and keep checking for better rates. Rates do change as they get closer to the stay date and the hotel has a better idea of their occupancy rate and available rooms.

Sorry if this has been answered already and I've missed it - is there drinking planned somewhere for the Saturday night? Or just dinner?

It is dinner on the Saturday night, but some people may like to kick on after dinner for drinks and/or pub/bar crawling.

Excellent :D
I could use this as an opportunity to catch up with a friend for dinner and drink with the AFF crowd afterwards! Will see if I can put together the points for a flight and something for a hotel stay.

Not odd at all. Mirrors my experience with Starwood and others. This is why I'd only book flex rates unless travel was v imminent.

Can we interest you in any of the other weekend's activities?

At this stage I'm still trying to work out whether I can reasonably make it, what night I can attend + what else I can cram in to the trip in terms of seeing friends ... but the brunch also sounds good to me :)

I wonder if the nice man at the ADL QP can still whip up those amazing bloody marys ... last time I was there, they were very necessary. ;)

That sounds good notzac. Once you have decided if you could let us know so that we can update the booking. Brunch is full (for meeting @ 10am), but we have also another booking to include everyone else for 'lunch' which is 12pm onwards (so those who decide to have a bit of a sleepin for the 'brunch')
