I'm still uncertain as to whether I can attend due to major changes at work that will be happening between now and the end of the year. By the time I decide whether I can attend, I'll bet all the cheap seats and rooms will be gone

I have the same problem... and of course don't know which city I will be coming from...

I second both of TomVexille's comments, having met crankychic over the weekend . I hope you can attend (as my attendance is looking likely given a certain Mrs QF WP wants a weekend in November for scrapbooking). Better get onto looking at hotels and flights as well.

You don't need 2 people sharing... they are sold by the room so if you must have a room for yourself, it's the same price.

Now, to work out if I want to get the QF 17:10 or the JQ 20:50 departure on Sunday, or to stay for another night (unlikely).

Regretfully, Mrs GF has given me an option of 4 weeks in Italy (including Ferrari museum!) at this critical time, as her sister just won a $15K travel voucher. This means I must graciously withdraw from The Meet and mar my annual Cairns trip record since 1992.
You'll all have a wonderful time from my experience, especially the daily 6am jet departures from RWY15 over the cbd! (Hint: 8th floor Acacia Court Hotel on nthn esplanade best situated to watch airport activities - straight down the runway).
