Save the date! The 2025 AFF annual member gathering will be in Melbourne from 21-23 November 2025.

There will be a welcome dinner on Friday evening, a more formal dinner with two fantastic guest speakers on Saturday evening, and optional activities throughout Saturday and Sunday.

All AFF members and their friends & family are welcome to attend. Most people usually fly into the host city on Friday afternoon, and leave on Sunday afternoon/evening. Of course, if you're a Melbourne local, the flying part is optional. ;)

You can read more about the planned activities, dinner venues and costs and post #2 of this thread.

There will be a $5 registration fee per participant, plus the cost of any activities and/or meals that you choose to join.

If you'd like to attend, and haven't already done so, please complete the registration form by clicking on the link below. Once you've done this, please also post your flight/hotel details in this thread!

For those unfamiliar with the AFF terminology:
  • "Platinum" means your attendance is confirmed and you have booked flights/accommodation
  • "Gold" means you're likely to attend but will need to confirm at a later time
  • "Silver" means you're unlikely to attend at this stage
  • "Bronze" means you're unable to attend.
The entire AFF team looks forward to seeing you in November in Melbourne! :D

Registrations have now closed.

A first for me. Packing the day before! For four seasons in three days of course :)

Hoping to meet NM in the lounge tomorrow before we fly down.

Airtrain to BNE, and Skybus already ticketed. Indigo is very close to Southern Cross.

Looking forward to the weekend very much.

I could be on the Airtrain too, if Mrs NM gets a call to work in the morning. Otherwise she will be my private airport transport convener.

Considering if I can pack everything needed into my backpack .... hmm, maybe.
  • Friday: 8-19 degrees, sunny with no rain forecast (just a little on the chilly side for use Queenslanders).
  • Saturday: 9-24 degrees, overcast most of the day, fine most of the day with some rain from early evening. Should be fine for MCG tour and Yum Cha timings. Might need to plan for possible dampness on the way back after dinner event.
  • Sunday: 14-22 degrees. Rain overnight from Saturday, but fine for the daylight hours.

I'm usually a light traveler but Melbourne gets me everytime. Not this time!

When I left Perth on Wednesday , the weekend in Melbourne was supposed to be 29C. I packed shorts! Rain did not eventuate today, so don’t believe even the daily forecast. I packed a decent jacket and an umbrella. Only for Melbourne do we need a medium to large suitcase for just one week!
