Sorry, should have been clearer. I use the mega-zeroes method with websites that insist you give them a phone number when there is no good reason for requiring it (and you can't complete their form without supplying one).

Oh… in those cases I get the email address and phone number of the ‘media enquiries’ unit, or customer service 🤣🤣 Usually easy to find with contact us->media!

Another good one is to use some recorded voice announcement numbers which are valid, working numbers.

0418707301 – "the number you are calling is not available"
0418707307 – "the number you are calling is not responding"
0418707310 – returns a busy tone
0418707316 – "the mobile phone you are calling is switched off or not in a mobile service area"
0418707317 – "the number you are calling is not connected"

Another is to use voicemail "pilot" numbers that are where the diversions are sent to or where a user of the service can connect to their mailbox off a different device.
The bonus here is that if the caller uses their own mobile to spam on the same network they may be connected to their direct voicemail box.
