Hi All, focusing on more positive things I thought I’ll make a post commending Aegen Airlines ( Old Olympic). We flew them from Frankfurt to Athens and Mykonos to Bucharest and must say we were impressed. Travel was in economy but we all got served food and drinks on all sectors( except Mykomos to Athens, which is a 30 Min trip, but got a bottle of water at least). Staff were friendly and professional, flights were delayed, but this is common all over Europe. We got to test their business class lounge in Athens ( curtesy of NZ Air Gold status match) and I must say one of the best lounges we have been to. Very stylish, great food and drinks selection. It really felt premuim. Aircraft was mainly new Airbus320 neos and seat space better than Lufthansa domestic.

Yes they are a nice airline and I wouldn't hesitate to fly them again when I return to Greece sometime in the future.

But beware though. They cancel flights to consolidate multiple flights into a single flight.

Had this happen to me twice in 2007 ATH-SKG return and I was at the airport early each time. They had flights going out with vacant seats but would not put me on earlier flight. Ticket rules don't allow fly forward.

I'm not flying forward. You cancelled my flights and now inconveniencing me and forcing me to wait around and be late. By the way both later flights delayed.

Don't try to use logic with Greeks.

Other than that they are a nice airline.

With the introduction of the Eu regulations on cancelled flights, I belive they will have to accommodate you now. We really need the same level of consumer protection in Australia.

I am also a fan of Aegean, having flown in J and Y with them over the last 6 or 7 years. The Athens J Lounge was very good, but even on the short hop in a Y only A319 from JTR to ATH the crew were attentive, and great with the families on holiday. Happy to fly with them again, and will probably look at them to connect to a cruise from Piraeus in 2023/24.

Thanks for the info. I was just looking up Aegean and their lounges in ATH airport yesterday for a trip in October. I assume this was non-Schengen?

Used Aegean quite a few times. Have also received a hot meal most times as well in Y. Very good.

Great timing....

Our renovated Business Lounge in the Intra Schengen area of Athens International
Airport
is on its way! From Wednesday October 12th 2022, our Business Lounge is taking a little break for renewal, only to be back with a new look and feel to enhance
your AEGEAN experience before every flight!

For the period that the Intra Schengen Business Lounge will be renovated, we would
like to invite you to the Goldair Handling Lounge.*

Thank you in advance for your understanding during this time and we look forward
to welcome you again in mid-December in our fresh Intra Schengen Business Lounge
that will add to your neo experience.

*upon availability

The Aegean lounge in it's current (unrenovated) form is still better than the Goldair lounge. I'll be there in a few weeks. Is there another Star Alliance lounge I can use (flying Intra Schengen J, Star Alliance gold). Lufthansa maybe?

Travelling with TK J tickets from ATH (having flown A3 inbound) we were sent to the Goldair lounge. Best you can say is that it was functional.

As a TK *G I went upstairs and checked out the A3 lounge (flying to IST, so I guess it was the non-Schengen lounge) and it was really nice: peaceful, spacious, tarmac views and had a decent selection of food and drinks.

Here’s another benefit flying A3: views over the Aegean!
