Advice on VPN

Thanks. I tried using San Francisco and LA but no go. Also tried using another (new) account with different email address after signing out of the first one.
I sent a message to ExpressVPN and waiting on reply.
Also did Google search and found a UK site (PixelPrivacy) which gives ExpressVPN its top rating for accessing Prime Video in 2020!
I'll try later as you suggest.

If you are not tied to Express VPN, try NordVPN. I have not had any issues.

Iam afraid netflix and prime use different methods to Fine geolocation and vpn is not the answer if u have sophisticated Network knowledge.
I have given advise to this issue and pls read it and follow advise..
Bosch is a great series and latest one is a thriller.

I am tied to ExpressVPN until October so will see if I can resolve the issue with them first and if not consider another vpn
Problem sorted. Used the support topics on ExpressVPN. Pretty simple really. Turned off location on device and tried yet another location in the US (LA -3) and away I went.
I should have thought about the location thing before I know.

I have Express VPN and signed up to Amazon Prime Video through a US location. I want to start watching Bosch season 6 which just started in the US but not in Australia for probably 6 months. There are other shows that look appealing as well not on the Australian site.
The US site knows I am using a VPN and asks me to turn it off and try again but then it says "not available in your area" so I can't watch it.
Is this what's called geo-blocking? Any ideas?
Express VPN used to be useful, but now it's gone downhill. I have both including Nord VPN seems to keep updating their IP addresses in the USA and therefore have been using them instead of Express. The Amazon the Netflix will be hard at it, trying to block suspicious IP addresses. Hence they pick up IP leaks from Australia like when switching off your VPN while watching a movie from say Netflix, USA.

Good information. I intend to watch a lot of the US version of Prime Video in the next few months and if problems come up I'll pass on here.

I've had very few issues with Express VPN - either at home or abroad - and I've been using it for years now, but on my last o/s trip through Asia and India in mid-January, I had lots of challenges accessing Foxtel GO, which is one of the main reasons I have it (sport from home), and some research indicated that they have moved to block VPN-provided IP ranges.

I'm thinking now about setting up DDNS from my home router so that I can take my IP for services like this one with me, but it all seems rather complicated... does anyone know of a simple solution? Apparently I've got some spare time to figure this thing out before I jet off anywhere!

Cheers,
Matt.

Often your VPN provider has several IP ranges and locations and protocols you can use. It’s often a matter of working through the options. If that doesn’t work, talk to support at your VPN provider.

Or, there are so many VPNs to choose from. We use IPVanish and TorGuard which seem to work ok but it varies. Just try a new one if you need.

Alternatively, set up a VPN connection to your home router, maybe PPTN, L2PN or IPSec depending on your router, or to a local windows machine, then you can access local sites through your home IP address if the router computer allows outgoing connections.

If that fails, just go to the bar. :)

Cash Rewards are currently offering 90% for Nord VPN and with Nord offering a good EOFY price, well you could get it almost free for the next 3 years.

Anyone used Nord VPN before? It seems to have ~90% cashback once every few months, and I am a bit skeptical about such deep discounts, especially for things such as VPN.

I use it and have found it to generally work well, although it didn't seem to work last time I was in China.

I have been using it for the past 2 years or so and it generally works fine. I have used it in Australia, Europe, UAE and Bahrain. I have it on my Laptop, iPhone, iPad, and Kodi (on Raspberry PI).

I have not tried it overseas but have been using it in Oz for quite a few years.

I ditched express vpn for Nord Vpn for my needs. If China is an issues it is not really there fault they keep changing the IP landscape so that is why you need to find the alternative server. It was the same with Netflix and others like Foxtel, Amazon they would block whole swaths of suspicious servers and IP addresses. So when that happened the team would put out new servers and IP addresses. It is never going to change. China is really on top of it trying constantly to block everything. Look at todays aggressive cyber attacks in Austrlia they are not idle.
