Advice on champagne

Majella sparkling Shiraz is very good too.. although more in the $25-$30 range depending on specials etc.
Sparkling Shiraz, now we are really talking. A good SS (or other Sparkling Red - I'm not totally bigoted) goes down dangerously easy for me, one of my all time favourite drinks.

I'm not a white wine drinker, and with some champagnes I find after 2-3 glasses the acidity can be a bit overwhelming, particularly in the lower end champagnes. Obviously that's a personal thing, but I found the Nocturne lighter on the acid so I'd be able to drink a few more glasses. Give me Comtes though and I am happy to keep on drinking.

Are you aware of Blanc de Noirs, champagne/sparking pinot noirs, such as [post=1618453]Mount Langi Ghiran Undisgorged Sparkling Pinot Noir 2011 ($31.50)[/post] and [post=1493631]Serge Mathieu Brut Tradition ($49.99)[/post]?

Interesting, thanks. I find it a bit difficult to locate blanc de noirs

Just for the record - my faithful travel companion Choc Ice confronted with his first ever glass of Dom - he was speechless, which is unusual for him.

Hi everyone, looking for thoughts on a bottle of champagne for a friend starting his own business. I had narrowed down to either the Pol Roger Sir Winston, or Tattinger Comtes:

https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_769530/taittinger-comtes-de-champagne-blanc-de-blancs-2004

For those that have tried, is one much better? Or is there another Champagne I should be considering in that rough price range? Would go up to say $400 if there is something spectacular I should be buying...

Taittinger for me.

This:

is often discounted if you can wait for it to come up again.

Those prices aren't overly competitive. I'd probably go for the Krug NV in that case (should be able to pick that up for $220 somewhere). Yikes, $300 at DMs. In that case I'd be going for https://www.danmurphys.com.au/produ...quot-la-grande-dame?orgSearchTerm=grande dame which is brilliant.

Edit: Just thinking about this, even the LGD price is pretty poor.

[post=1623989]2002 Krug, it's $370 at Wine Culture - or click+collect at Dan Murphy's for $449.99 to receive 3% Cashrewards and price-match refund at pick-up[/post] :)

15 different stores already tried. Same result.

now $39 :( but for future reference, Malvern (3144) and Chadstone (3148) :)

A great drop worth a mention - made at one of Australia's highest wineries - De Salis wines - De Salis Wines

They do sparkling's like you wouldn't believe:

- Blanc de blanc
- Blanc de noir
- Loftee Cuvee

All three a gorgeous and if you are lucky enough to find any of the older vintages, even better!
