Maybe I've been blissfully unaware, but when did advertising on boarding passes start?

Seems a bit :-\ for a 'full service' airline.

I'm guessing some time in the last month. Perhaps they're 'trialling' it in a few select airports. I did CBR-SYD-ABX last week and noticed it only on SYD issued BPs. Mine, issued in ABX for the flight up and issued in CBR for the return were all on red backs.

Pics or it didn't happen :p

More seriously, what sort of advertising is it? For VA, or partners? Is it on the back of the BP or integrated into the face of it?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What next, painting a plane in an Optus promotion to go with optus ads on the boarding passes

Well, there are at least 2 of us that have seen these in the wild. So either it happened, or they've been putting some industrial grade hallucinogens in the SYD drinking water. :)

The ads are the back side of the boarding passes, a la shopper dockets.

Doesn't appear to be for VA or partners. The paper/cardboard is also thinner than the non-advertising boarding passes.

As an aside, I miss the VA cardboard wallet sleeve thing you used to get when flying J.

I'd attach pic but can't on mobile?

I remember many years ago QF had advertising on their BP. Recall may have been their FF partners.

Pretty sure they have had various campaigns over the years where there have been ads on the BP...

Don't stress too much, I don't actually want pics , I was just wondering what they looked like. The verbal description is enough.

Doesn't really strike me as a huge problem. At least with no video IFE on VA at the moment we aren't subjected to ads via that medium.

I had this on my BP leaving MEL on Monday. It was an ad for a Huawei mobile phone..

I've got BP dating back 15 years with advertising on the back... nothing new, or more to the point why shouldn't a full service airline sell advertising? What about the ads in the mag onboard?

I had the same out of MEL and PER on the 26th. BPs from the check in counter both times, and got a few extras as receipts from paying for extra bags. Flying again tonight, will be interesting to see what comes out.

For anyone interested, this is the back of my BP from MEL last night, printed at the service desk.

Mid Eighties BP here, Ansett, or Australian Airlines were hardly LCC

I think it depends on how 'tasteful' the placement is - if it's not "in your face" it doesn't really do any damage as long as it fits in with the brand.

I really like the new departures boards that QF has installed - a great idea, they would make a small fortune out of ad space a year.
