I'll start with J because that's what I usually fly.

Domestic Australia Short Flights are defined as flights under 750 miles

SYD-ADL (724 miles): was 60 SCs, will be 40 SCs
SYD-HBA (646 miles): was 60 SCs, will be 40 SCs

Additions welcomed.

I've still got my team of data scientists helping me understand the new chart, but off the top of my head those SC earns are similar to what it used to be, right?

Not really. 30% reduction for anything between 600 and 750 miles. Also next zone goes from 1200 to 1500, or there abouts.

P fares in the USA

The trans USA flights from the Northeast to California which require two flights of just over 1200 mile segments will be reduced from 120 SC each to 90 each.

Happy wandering

Fred

I'm based in ADL and do all my flying domestically on FlexiSavers to maintain status. For me it's a massive 30% reduction in SC earn which will now have me struggling to maintain Platinum:

ADL-SYD drops from 30 down to 20
ADL-PER drops from 40 down to 30

Not happy!

Well, actually, it depends on which business class you are in. under the new simpler system, it could be 40 SC or 45 SC, depending on whether you are Business, or Flexible Business.

SYD-DFW in T class drops from 100 SCs to 90 SCs.
LAX-JFK (QF) in T class drops from 50 SCs to 40 SCs - so PAX travelling BNE-LAX-JFK now earn less (130 SCs) than those travelling direct from SYD to JFK (140 SCs). Yes, that's much fairer!

We all know that the reduction in SCs for travelling on OW partners is because QF want you to fly QF, not the partners. Qantas have said this explicitly.

So OBVIOUSLY the reduction in SCs for travelling domestic business on QF is because QF want you to travel on Virgin.

Simple really.

Everyone ... take the hint!

Joyce must REALLY hate Adelaide; I was already pushing my work-related ADL-PER flights to Virgin whenever I could justify it, but a 50% reduction in Qantas Miles and a 25% reduction in SC's for that sector is going to make damn sure I fly Virgin once the changes come in......

Caversham04, I was talking to someone during the week who is in a position to know how a national business is faring and he remarked to me (ranking the states) 'WA was best, followed by NSW; Vic 'fair', Qld 'not good' and then SA at the bottom, but of the two last, SA is the 'basket case.'

So if that's also true for airlines, ADL may be not doing well. However that doesn't explain why JQ moved planes and staff from DRW (it said its routes there were 'marginal' or 'among the most marginal') to ADL; nor does it explain the drop in SCs for your flights.

MIA-SXM, AA, D, drops from 80 SCs to 60 SCs.

There is now no benefit now in finding that Caribbean destination >1200 mi (and <1500 mi) from MIA. One just needs to ensure that one gets a destination >750 mi from MIA for those Caribbean status runs, as >1500 mi is a far tougher ask.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

A little OT maybe but I can see at least one Asian hub serviced by OW which doesn't appear on the new Partner Earning chart. Still trying to work out its usefulness.
