Additional services to NZ, Jakarta and Singapore

Odd to have extra flights to CGK when the MNL route is probably busier at Christmas time.

While both the CGK and MNL routes (and most others) are very busy around Christmas, QF did get higher loads to CGK than MNL last December.

Admittedly much of the demand for Oz-MNL during December is northbound and southbound during mid to late January, but with the world leading call centre operations in MNL these days and lots of Oz clients there must be many more Australians working in Philippines.

Flights to CGK (compared to inbound flights) were very full last December, while flights from CGK back to Australia were very full last January. That says to me that much of the holiday traffic is originating in Australia.

It's great to see a further expansion of Qantas services to the land of the long white cloud.
The lovely folk of BNE must be very happy with the additional services they have secured to a number of destinations in the past few months.

I would love to see a MEL > QZN in the Red Roo's livery should QF feel generous in giving MEL some love too.

Don't under estimate the number of Indonesian students in Australia.

Haha. :p MEL is more of a LCC airport. QF and VA are more focussed on SYD and BNE , happy to leave MEL to JQ and TT .......

I wonder if that's because they've already lost the premium market in MEL to overseas carriers.

Being regular BNE-CHC travellers we have no choice but to fly AirNZ or Virgin. We'd love these flights to be reinstated permanently.

Exactly.

Whilst SE Queensland may be the fastest growing region of Australia currently in terms of population growth , MEL is forecasted to be a bigger city in terms of population than SYD in less than 20 years time by 2035.

The Overseas Airlines are no doubt aware of this and already the capacity in place.
