A few minutes ago I booked ADL > SYD using some BA Avios points I had stashed (9,000 points one-way for economy seemed like a good deal). In any event, after making the booking I found that whilst I could add the QF flight to my QF app/account, the FFP did not update from BA Executive Club to QFF.

I'm wondering if it's possible to get that updated as I have QFF Gold (and no status with Executive Club)? I tried checking the QF website and the BA's MMB site for my booking but there were no options there.

Use Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian or Finnair's site. It's def possible and if you're PC/PC+ you'll get SCs on the booking. Also 9k for one way should be J surely?

Unless you want to SCs though, it doesn't really matter, you'll still be able to use your OWS benefits by flashing your QF SG card as required.

Thank you for that. I tried changing first with FinnAir (since it seemed least sketch) and it errored out as did Royal Air Maroc. However, I was able to get the details updated via the Royal Jordanian site without any issues. I don't have Points Club since it's impossible for me to rack up 150,000 QF points in a year given I don't have any credit cards, and QF limits how many points you can earn through flying.

Nope! It's 9,000 one-way in economy from Adelaide to Sydney and 16,500 for business class:

That may be so, but I want to reserve a decent seat on this plane without having to spend extra for the honour.

Fair enough, everything you say makes sense!

And yes didn't register it was ADL-SYD, I usually use them MEL-ADL or MEL-SYD, which must fall into a lower pricing band, but partner redemptions have indeed increased, used to be 4.5k for Y/9k for J on those routes. Still beats QF, but not by much, and given how much more difficult they are to accrue, they're best (imo) used on the band 3 flights now (like MEL-PER, ~43k QF for J vs ~22k BA for J).

But that said, the best redemption is the one that suits you, and given the price of domestic flights right now (and esp that close to Xmas), you've done pretty well there anyway.
